You can't find it? funny that. And I've watched Premier League games every weekend for over 20 years... you quite clearly don't watch Premier League football, or have a great knowledge of it at all. But we'll just agree to disagree.
Agree to "disagree" (note let me repeat, I never said Suarez or Van Persie were "more verstatile" nor "better" then Rooney. I just made a comment that many so quick to claim Rooney was more 'versatile' then them as "obvious" )
Haha... So the winner of the last 2 european championships, and reigning world champion, Spain, is 2nd tier. This is clearly a joke.
Rooney aint anywhere near as good as suarez and the rest ... What makes it worse for me is the way that none of the pundits on match of the day highlight his limitations and when he has a bad game ( which is often) nobody says anything.. Watching him against everton the other day was a laughable performance ... World class my arse
If England drop Rooney they will be a much better side. Time has moved on, he is no longer the wonder kid he was once thought to be. He never made it to the levels thought. Hasn't turned up fit to an international tournament since 04, poor diet and a smoker who is no longer able to run enough so he walks around more than not. How he gets paid 300k is a disgrace to the game, but he doesn't care. All he has to do is turn once in a while and score a few against average teams.. England have a nice new breed of players like the Southampton players, sterling, Barkley etc. Not world beaters but players who can play technical football. That is England's future, the sooner they move away from the likes of Rooney the better for them.
Excellent post mate..i couldnt agree more.. England have got to stop selecting players on past reputations....
Bullshot...Rooney is injured and should be rested. Moyes, being a Scot, didn't give a rates rear about England so did not rest Rooney when he needed to. Hopefully Giggs (even though he's Welsh) will...
Stop standing up for rooney.. I would love for england to have a great world cup and for rooney to play something close to resembling his reputation.. But it aint gonna happen.. I am not saying rooney is useless but the man is overrated to the point of nonsense.. Injuries , excuses or whatever against top nations and top defences he is listless.. Name me the date the game and the opposition that rooney last had a great game for england...
What is bull about it? People in England and real untied fans despise him for abusing his situation twice now to manufacture a contract. When I say real fans the hardcire ones who organised the plane protest and got booed by the sheep day trippers. Rooney is not injured, no offense but you seem totally out ifvtoych with the what's really happening
That's one good remark, but the worst one is that some of them ONLY PLAYED well in club level, but sh!!!!t at international level (in England shirt)
no England aren't a superpower in the sense of winning tournaments, a very big football nation, yes. we are what spain have been for years before their youth system came to fruition, underachievers, we have some very talented youngsters coming through though in sterling, lallana, barkley, stones, shaw, sturridge and a few more, we also still have some excellent established players such as gerrard, cole, baines, rooney, hart, walker, if we get to the quarter finals this summer then I will be very happy. As for rooney, the guy hasn't lived up to his potential but he is still a top class player and anyone who says otherwise obviously doesn't appreciate what he brings to his teams, his goalscoring record for England and man utd is second to none, a goal in every two games near enough, he is clearly in the top 10 strikers in the world but obviously nowhere near the standard of messi or Ronaldo.
I agree, Rooney was good and had some good qualities but I don’t think he’s the player that people want him to be.
He did nothing all game and scored a deflected goal against brazil which people claimed was a ' wonder goal'.. Cesar would have saved it if it hadnt deflected.. I hope rooney has a good world cup but i cant see it happening mate.. Any decent defence seems to handle him easily..he aint what he's made out to be..good player-thats it
rightly so ... at first , in early 2000's English media labeled him as "new Pele", then ... "new Ronaldo" ... and now?
I couldn't agree more until you got to the part about Rooney. The guy is so over valued and a detriment to any chance England has of having a good showing at the WC.
The english press didn't call him the new Pele. SGE said "“I don’t remember anyone making such a big impact on a tournament since Pele in Sweden in 1958,” which is hardly the same thing. Really, find me one article claiming Rooney is the new Pele or new Ronaldo. There are loads talking about the "new Pele" label (that nobody actually said) but all really ought to be titled "Is Rooney the new Pele? No." as that's what they conclude. You can find a fair few from around 2004 saying that if he could keep playing like was was doing (or improving) then he'd be a truly great player, which is hardly a radical suggestion.
Do I think England is a "World Power" in soccer? No, but since when is that a bad thing? In my opinion, the only "World Powers" are Brazil, Italy, Germany and France. And then there's the next rung with the likes of the Dutch and Argentina. These two are very close but simply have not had the sustained success that the big dogs have. The rung below that is where I would put England along with the Portugals, Uruguay and finally Spain. Sorry to all the little Fifa soccer loving nuggets out there who just started watching soccer the last 8 years but Spain is not a top dog............yet. If they keep at it over the next 3 or 4 World Cups then yeah, they'll jump up a rung or even two but not yet.
didn't pele liked rooney to himself so that's a pretty good recommendation! rooney on his day has the ability to live with the best but he has to get his team to play to his strengths, something which England and man utd haven't done too often, no one can deny on his day he is up their with the best.
Having lived in London during WC 2010 and Euro 2012 may I put in my two cents? In the run up to WC 2010 the English were following a "this will be easy" line. In fact the Sun the day after the draw had this as a front page: The day after we drew then 1-1 they were down a little but all figured it was a fluke. The day after they drew Algeria they were depressed. For about 2 minutes after the Slovenia game they were going crazy, and then realised we won and so England would have to play Germany. I luckily was in Malta the day of the Germany - England game but when I got home they were in massive depression. Going into Euro 2012 the English were in massive "We are crap" mode. I will say though that going to national team games on Wembley is an awesome experience. One thing I miss about London is the walk up Wembley Way on game days.
Argentina has more WC wins than France, more WC runner-ups, greater players historically (Maradona, DiStefano, Sivori, Messi vs Platini and Zidane), a more successful league with giants River Plate and Boca Jrs. There is no way France should rank ahead of them by any measure.
