People hate Chelsea because, frankly, it's not a club that deserves respect. Unless you were raised to support CFC as a family tradition, there really is no logical reason to do so. The majority of their supporters are the fickle type who turns to whichever club has the latest, most expensive stars so that they may get to cheer as often as possible when "their" team enjoys some measure of success (not that Chelsea really does). It's not a club rich with history or tradition. It's a fairly mediocre top-half PL side that suddenly had some unknown Russian dump an unbelievable amount of cash into their laps. Their current "success" is 100% purchased, and to make matters worse, there have been a lot of raised eyebrows as to the questionable nature of the guy's cash flow. They buy whatever they see, leaving the club with great stars and no heart whatsoever. No "one club men", no aspiring youths who grew up and came into their own in the club. No history worth mentioning, not only in terms of prior titles but simply noteworthy events and things to take pride in. It was an average club that suddenly saw a pile of cash materialize before them, and few can find a reason to respect that. Then there's a slew of other reasons. Their supporters are some of the least likeable, probably because they are the above-mentioned simpletons who drift to whatever club is on the front page most frequently this season. Imbecilic chavs garner little admiration. Then, the club has some of the most unsympathetic players in the world; if anyone feels anything but intense loathing for the likes of Didier Drogba, one has to question their sanity. Relying on such disgraceful players is something that other clubs and supporters will scoff at, but then that's the kind of atmosphere you get in a club that throws money at the big names as their only means of achievement. You don't get this atmosphere in clubs where the players are happy and comfortable. At the end of the day, Chelsea is not only a club that few will find a reason to support, but one that most others deliberately dislike. The club isn't worth anyone's respect. Maybe if they managed to do more than screw with the league due to their deviation from traditional routes to success, they wouldn't get everyone and their mother hating them. This would all be somewhat acceptable if they managed to play football at a level that corresponds to the money involved and the players they've purchased, but we all know that this is far from the case. I'm guessing their Russian sugar daddy will eventually withdraw his support before CFC sees any major achievements.
Sorry mate, but that's not always the case. I have seen on many occasions Russian immigrants who use -ski, rather than -sky suffix when translating their last names upon coming to America.
Worst thing of all : Watching a lot of boys loving that club after winning two games at PES/WE playing with them.
