Okay guys, do eigther of our teams have a shot at getting past the group stage? Both start out away, Bolivar goes to face Quinteros and Emelec, Strongest goes to Atletico Paranaense, who is coached by Portugal and by the way they just signed Adriano. Tough starts for both, and it doesn't get easyer, both teams are in strong groups where they are the underdogs. All that being said I think Strongest has more of a chance, the're playing well for a long time now, and they didn't do too bad last Libertadores. add to that the fact that for some reason it seems to me Paranaense is ripe for the picking, they nearly got beat by the Peruvian team to get in.
Bolivar in the other hand is going up against a Manger that knows them well, plus Emelec hasn't lost at home in ages. A few of the players that Quinteros doesn't know well are the ones that could cause problems, the Spaniards, and Pedriel. I hope Pedriel does more of what he did against Strongest on the last goal, he looked like a man amongst boys.
Good luck to both teams, I'll be watching and probably getting some killer heartburn.

I was able to start watching the strongest game at about the 58th minute. Strongest has looked like the aggressors, things just haven't gone their way, they had 3 or 4 shots on frame and just not able to get it in. Enough of moral victories, they deserve a point.

Interesting game. I did like the how they panned the game, it was good pressuring from the mid-field, but I did feel that there were a lot of holes in defense.

Didn't catch the Strongest game but did Chuma play. I had heard he wasn't gonna play due to injury so I figured they were gonna lose even though I know that Brasilian team isn't very good.

Caught the Cholis game. They deserved at least a point from their efforts.

    My thoughts:

    - Emelec is not as a good a team as I was led to believe
    - Rudy is a one trick pony and always will be, flies down the flank cuts inside and shanks it into the upper deck or kills a play
    - Ferreira is who he's always been. Kills it in the league then bitches about not being paid enough and about all the offers he has abroad then proceeds to shit the bed on the big stage
    - Damir Miranda should be flogged at sunrise
    - Quinonez is not there yet
    - Soria showed amateur status with those moves that came way too late
    - Pedriel was practically invisible
    - Callejon was great and played with heart

I couldn't have put it better.
Cardozo needs to expand his arsenal. I saw the same crap all game.
Ferreira flat out choked( it's time to get this kid Suarez on the pitch, at least for the league games)
Quinones needs to learn to come out with authority.
Pedriel needs more time to gel, physically he held his own and at times showed class.
Callejon will leave, no doubt other teams saw that talent and will offer more money.
As for Tigre, they needed someone to finish, Rios couldn't do it at poin blank range, and neighther could the Paraguayan guy I forget his name( not escobar). At any rate both teams deserved at least one point. It's frustrating that they played well yet it's the same, no points for their effort. Let's face it those were the easyer of the oponents, it will only get worse.
    Chuma didn't play BTW.

I think Quiñonez just needs more time, he doesn't have much experience in the international stage.. So I'll forgive him this time. Miranda sucks balls! I think it's time to give Justiniano a shot. I agree on Soria being to slow with the subs, but he had a great game plan but then Ferreira happened... I think Pedriel did ok, he just needs more time, he's being inactive for to long. I liked Yacerote, that guy can play in any position! With all that said Bolivar played pretty well, lets hopes it continues!

PS: The Stronguest has the worst record in Libertadores' history not being able to win an away game in 40 games! :D

Perdiel was amazing against the defense of Emelec. He has such strength since going to europe--the kid bulked up and added on a good amount of msucle. He turned his defender, away fom goal, trapped it with his chest, dragged it down, and layed it off to William F. who had the pass to Callejon who scored the goal.
Emelec often times looked worse than Bolivar. Bolivar had the stronger counters, plays where they should have scored...and should have came away from Ecuador with at least a tie if not a win if not for Ferreira's F ups.

I odn't get what's up with him. He's strong in Bolivia, but once the speed of game changes (speeds up), level of play, and time on the ball lessens...he's not as good in Bolivia and can't up his game.

Callejon was phenomenal and best player of the game. He had ice in his veins being the ballsy'ist player on the field. He had quick, sharp, 1 tuoch passes taht our whole team should ahe been playing which led to quick opening of space. His feint, touch, and goa lin the box was nothing short of world class. We should really try and make him Bolivian. He's the guy we need as our '10' for the NT.

Our weakest link was Miranda/ Gutierrez who was TERRIBLE on distribution. Luis was toooo slow on his thought of play, and holding of the ball because of being unsure of when to let go of the ball led to many turn overs in dangerous spots on the wing or close to half field.

Soria needs to work on quick, fluid, touches in midfield to move the ball so we can make some cunter attaks. Our team is great. Imagine with Arce and Lizio added into the mix....this team is dangerous...

Pedriel was a problem, he always had 2 players marking him. I think he does great turning the opposition

I would like to give Ferriera credit for the game, he was always making runs and applied good pressure. 2 of his shots on goal we're from his left foot and also difficult. On his third chance, the goalkeeper did well closing up his legs to block the shot.

our weakest part of the field is in the middle, only because the 2 d mids are not reading the play well or are not getting to their positions quick enough. Soria probably knows that Arrascaita should play that position but he is holding onto his cards imo. It's too early in Copa to show a player like that because he makes a big difference. remember that Quinteros is not familiar with him. The one thing that sucks is that if that sub was made, the game could have ended 1-1

Soria is no amateur coach, he has been at the club forever and has been alongside plenty of Bolivar coaches. He knows how to manage a game as well as have prepared plays and counters, otherwise; we wouldnt have been the better of the 2 teams overall. If you guys say that Quinteros coached this game better, I would have to disagree and he just won the Ecuadorian league.

I think we go with our big guns in La Paz, and win big. We an do it. This team is talented, and deep enough. We had friggin Arce, Lizio, Capdevila, Arrascaita all out of the game. Imagine us interchanging to bring on offense when things get stale....this is a bench.

@Bolivianfuego I don't know what's up with him (ferreira) though but he tends to not do so well in the bigger games. just saw a replay of his first shot and he could have switch the shot to his right foot.

If we win all our home games. we're through to the next round. Arce was the most missed for a Copa games.

@Dustyvinyl Ferreira is not doing good in general, he had lots of problems in yesterday's game against San Jose. He even missed a PK, let's hope he bounces back for Wednesday game, we really need him. Also with Arce there we should do somewhat more decent. I hope we get Lizio's transfer, he can be very usefull if thing get though.

I'm more scared of the defense, still not doing very well, making dumb mistakes. A counter can kill ass, and that's all Leon is going to do. Scoring asap is key.

If both our teams don't come away with a win the next game, I think it's safe to say they can start packing it in. I feel for strongest, they're not at full strength, between suspensions and injuries. they got it tough. If they are able to win the next game they get their 3 starters I believe, Vaca, Veizaga, and Cabrera. Not sure if Chuma is a go for this game.

    Bolivar allowed an easy goal.

So predictable. Hurts to watch them play. The pace of the pass is to slow, and we stop soo many potential counters, only to allow Leon to regroup. No surprise. I'm amazed were still taking ball to final third of field given pace and predictability. Talents definitely there, I just wished we played game smarter, not harder.

    Sad.

Quinones gave up an easy goal, now Bolivar has to chase the game. The only player that looks good to me is Callejon, he's a difference maker, maybe to a lesser degree Pedriel. Really there is no clarity on the last third of the field, when you need to be at your finest Our players are not. The formation is so offensive that if Bolivar doesn't score soon, they'll surely go down by more than one.
I would say in the second half stop just shooting from anywhere and try to use give and go to get closer and put one in early, after that keep the pressure and hope to tire them out and get one more....sounds like a plan:thumbsup:

Pedriel is a poacher. Dude can head, and positions well, but he hasn't done very well with reading team mates.

    Callejon and Arze are beasts!

Wow, our defense is letting Leon get to final third.

Good move by soria to take out Pedriel. Dude that came in started the play that scored. Callejon scored a beauty!

The entire team going forward, what else can we expect. Penal!
I'm sorry but Soria's team is not keeping their shape, they look like a bunch of six yo. I don't think Claure keeps him much longer.

Elementary mistakes on defense. Two defenders committed to defending wing when there was no coverage in the middle. We're very lucky Leon didn't capitalize.

Bro, I think that's just the tip of the iceberg, this team was a complete chaos, players are running all over the place with no regard to tactics. Soria is not the man to take this team to the next level, hope he proves me wrong. Quinones saved our asses after his blunder on that goal.

Quinones played great AFTER he woke up.

Soria just inherited this team, so hopefully he can pull something off. We attack to much down the middle, and not enough on the wings. When we do use flanks, and not slow tempo, good things happen.

Played much better at Emelec than at home.

    - Terrible field
    - Pedriel is invisible
    - Ferreira continues to blow chances in front of gol
    - Rudy continues to shank them into the upper deck
    - Arrascaita should start
    - Miranda is garbage and Flores has heart
    - Quinonez is 21, a lot of upside

All in all it's a game that needed to be won. Could have easily won it and just as easily lost it. Both teams blew chances.

I think Tio Claure will be giving the axe to Ferreira and Soria and give Callejon a nice raise.
