Havent made a game day thread in a long time so I decided to make our first EL game day thread of the season.

If we as a team, as an organization, and as a fan base serious about becoming a "big club" we must take every competition seriously. We have not done anything to make us feel that we should be above any competition winning breeds a winning mentality you get that mentality the world becomes your oyster.

I dont watch any EPL games so I cant comment on weather or not Swansea is in great form or tanking for Wiggins like the Sixers. All I know is this team needs to go onto the field with the feeling they are playing Barcelona.

We need to pick up points so that we can improve our seeding. I want success I want the world of football to know and fear NAPOLI !

They fired Laudrup, but we still have to take care of them

Sixers are painful... I can't even watch this season because management admitted they are tanking lol

But it seemed they tanked domestically for European glory... But they drew us and they realized maybe they should focus on premier league again and they fired laudrup because they've been poor domestically

From a friend of mine that occasionally follows them:

"I'm not an expert, but I can try...really good coaching tree: Martinez, Rodgers, Laudrup. Their pass-heavy attack got them a Cup win last year, but Laudrup and the board fought over transfers. Plus the added fixtures from the Europa League, he got sacked. Now Munk is in charge. Played with them across 4 divisions. Trying a more direct approach, but not terribly successful. Dunno what they'll do in the summer."

I expect Napoli to win at least 2-1 at Swansea. It seems since Laudrup was sacked, they've deviated from the possession style attack that was actually more interesting and better perfected than Arsenal last season. This is a club with a lot of dysfunction right now as they're going through transition. Jake and I also talked about this already, but the fact that they're 10th in the Premier League is meaningless as they're only four points away from the last spot in the relegation zone. I don't expect them to be relegated this year, but one would assume that staying top flight would be more successful than getting relegated and coming however short of winning the Europa League. Because, really, they don't have the talent and identity, in my belief, to win this competition.

Hope I'm wrong but I think this will be a bit tougher game than you suggest. They seem to be taking the game against Napoli serious as they rested 7 players today in the cup away to Everton. They won't get the chance to play in Europe often so I can see why they would go hard in the home leg at least and try and give their fans something to cheer.

I mentioned previously they have beaten Chelsea, Liverpool Arsenal and United in the past two seasons under two different managers so they manage to raise their game against better sides from time to time.

I think sacking Laudrup has disrupted the team significantly. A lot of those players were involved in some pretty momentous occasions over the last two years, but they haven't played like that in recent form enough to suggest that that they're close to turning the corner.

Jake was touting a 3-0 victory, for the record as well. So, I like to my believe that I'm being realistically confident here.

yeah ive watched Swansea, they look piss, even with Laudrup tbh

maybe they turn the corner, and if Higuain misses it that throws a damper in my prediction, but we have to be taken care of these teams in one leg if we want to deal with balance of the schedule

Go nuts. Put Hamsik up top. That way he can't be crowded for the ball in a playmaker role. :D
