    Awesome. I approve instantly of any player acquisition method that brings more uncertainty and potential for accusations of bias into the equation.

    At this point, we have to be like one step away from a press release announcing that Chris Wondolowski is now a Red Bull... just because.

    I'm with you. I'm no longer going to try to understand the player acquisition rules.

    It seems to me that what happens is that they start off with a simple system, and then they encounter a situation that the system doesn't allow them to do what they want, so then they pass a rule tweaking the original system, and then a new situation happens again and they tweak it again, and so on. Eventually the exceptions to the rules become more important than the rules themselves and they'd be better off just not having any rules.

    The only point of these byzantine rules is to restrain player wages, to strip players of their leverage to bargain.

    I have a big freaking problem with it, because the goal is exactly what employers want to do to employees in pretty much every sector. MLS just gets special dispensation to jerk around the rules.
