Kaufman had a great article yesterday about Beckham and Miami MLS.

    Here was the highlight:

In the meantime, we hear that if this ambitious plan does materialize, Beckham aims to lure at least a few top South American and European players to his Miami team. He thinks South Florida’s Latin culture, warm weather, beaches and international cachè will be huge selling points for prospective big-name players who want to extend their fan base in the United States.

A source who has spoken with Beckham’s associates said the soccer icon’s “wish list” for Designated Players would start with the same three players most any soccer fan would pick — Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Radamel Falcao. They are three of the best (if not the three best) players in the world, and though the Miami team doesn’t even exist yet, and any potential team is at least three years from taking the field, fans are welcome to dream, right?

Pretty great stuff, mostly fantasy, but I am glad Kaufman is excited and Becks is thinking big.

Would be nice to snatch one of those but is it even possible, Im sure the transfer fee itself would cost more than out Miami expansion team.

I was thinking maybe a Ronaldhino, or even Forlan, that our at the end of their career, and then bring atleast two or three promising young forwards from South America, that can score goals ( maybe even a home product straight from Miami)

I heard something about Terry signing up for the Miami Team, Is it possible, and would it be a good idea?

    Probably referring to this article:

Chelsea captain John Terry could be offered the chance to join David Beckham's Miami-based Major League Soccer team when he leaves Stamford Bridge.

Unfortunately Ronaldinho just signed a multi-year extension and Forlan is now being linked to some Japanese team. Probably be too old by the time Miami MLS takes the pitch.

Jozy said on twitter it'd be "an honor" to be Miami's first DP.

For some reason, I feel like Miami has a shot at C. Ronaldo - didn't he play games in Miami and always had a smile on his face? Seems like the city would fit his lifestyle too, and surely Beckham could be a big influence. We know they have the money to get him

xavi would have to be 38 years old for MLS to even have a shot. Hes a one club player. he will retire from soccer wearing Barca all the way. don't see it happening.

Mid to late 30s? Unless you are maybe a keeper, no thanks. 2007 called they want their DP players.

Altidore would have to come to Miami and tear it up for it not to be seen as a failure.

MLS is only recently beginning to be taken seriously. Ronaldo is is world class, arguably top 3. it will be a while before we see him here. i think theres a higher chance he ends up in France or Italy before he makes the jump to MLS.

Jozy is just trash. I rather invest that DP money on someone else.

Hes one of the most inconsistent American players ive ever seen. hes had some good momenst, both at club(s) and NT side... but you cant dismiss the garbage hes left out on the pitch the majority of times throughout his career.

Understandable, he has been inconsistent at higher levels tho, at MLS he would destroy everybody!! He might be inconsistent but every player goes through a drought, Falcao was inconsistent for some time as well then he became big went to Monaco scores for a while then had a drought himself. Then got hurt. I feel as if you just being a little biased against the USMNT player, I think this weekend he scored 2 goals against a league opponent.

well yes every athlete has their bad moments, but Falcao usually has more of an impact. The guy is simply a big time player. and has come through in big games. i cant say the same for Altidore. theres a reason why Falcao is one of the top players in the world. apples to oranges.

and im not being biased. ive followed Jozy much the same way i follow many players in the USA NT. Colombia is my primary national side... but i also root for USA anytime they play.

Altidore is from south Florida, hence the interest. He also destroyed the Dutch league last year, so the potential to do very well in MLS is there. Maybe the epl isn't his thing.

    nor is La Liga.

maybe im just tired of always giving him the benefit of the doubt. regardless... i rather invest that money for someone else.

Did I mention he is American? That plays into it. How many semi-known Americans who are also a hometown boy are there in the world? Oh and he would be great in MLS.
