    Bump.

For travel recommendations, I suggest the Brazilian travel writer Ricardo Freire (site is in portuguese but Google Translate is your friend). Freire knows the Northeast very well and his recommendations are usually spot on.

I'm curious is there anything to do in the Northeast other than the beach? Looking at being in Natal for 5 days and not sure what to do.

I've been to Natal twice in the past century and I'm sure it's changed quite a bit but during our two trips we went on a few dune buggy thrill rides and also a couple of donkey tours. Also day trips to nearby locales but these involved more beaches. Lots of beach kiosks with food, drink and music.

I think you can ride camels in the dunes as well.

I am staying in Natal from June 14th to June 20th. Any recommendations as to activities or other things to do during non-game days is greatly appreciated!

I just booked the last room available at that hotel from June 14th to June 20th. That was one of the last hotels available at a decent rate, and the location looks prime. I'm looking forward to the trip!

I'm in Ponta Negra 15-18 June for the game. I'm still hoping to get a ticket on this round with FIFA/USSF. Otherwise, I'm scrambling to get one somehow. I'm solo for this part of the trip so I'm looking forward to meeting up with some fellow USA supporters and also lining up transportation from Ponta Negra to the stadium for the game.

I am in Ponta Negra from the 14th to the 20th.

I wouldn't worry about the ticket too much at this point. Per USSF, most, if not all, of the Supporters Club members should get tickets. In terms of transportation, it looks like it is about a 15 minute ride to the stadium from Ponta Negra without traffic. It would be great to line up some sort of bus ride to/from the stadium, because taking taxis may be difficult, and there will probably be a good amount of traffic.

I joined in 2013, so I'm near the bottom of the list. I did ask for a single too though, so I'm thinking that'll help increase my odds.

There's tons of fans down in Ponta Negra, and it's way too far to walk, so you'd think somebody is working on how to get all the fans up to the stadium from there. I'm figuring it'll be a mess, and we may not know until we all get there what the options are. Piling thousands of us into taxis doesn't seem like a viable solution.

I'm planning on trying to get up there early that day, even with the 7 PM kickoff. Maybe even plan to watch the 1PM Germany-Portugal game in a bar in that area as that's obviously a "can't miss" match for many reasons. I don't care that much about Iran-Nigeria (4PM) though so I miss that, it's OK, so another option is to head to the stadium right after Germany-Portugal at 3PM. 4 hours should be enough but the fear is being stuck in traffic and missing part of the game. Plenty of time to worry about this later though.

I'll be in Natal June 15-19. Staying at an apartment-hotel on Ponta Negra four nights, though we're thinking maybe of going to Praia de Pipa a couple nights after the US game instead of staying in Natal.

Just a heads up for anyone flying from Natal to Manaus.....I've been looking for flights for the past month or so, and pretty much all the flights had 2, 3, or 4 stops and took about 12 hours total. It looks like TAM has just added a nonstop Natal to Manaus flight around 12pm each day, and arriving around 3:30pm.

One stop definitely isn't bad compared to some of the options I've seen.

Some of the routes are stops, but you don't change planes. For example there was one where the plane stopped in Santereum, Belem and Fortaleza, but you didn't have to get off the plane.

$400 one way (expensive, I know, but that appears to be the standard rate). There are some one-way flights for about $300, but they include multiple stops, take much longer, and generally leave at bad times (like 4am). Depending what days you want to do your flights, it looks like you can find a roundtrip flight for about $600 right now.
