If so, then hopefully as either the secondary or the tertiary jersey.

The apparent new official wordmark is now on the team's official website:

I'm liking it so far. No "Quakes" no loss of the blue. Just need to see the kits and the crest but so far not too shabby.

Very Clean! I like how the font picks up on the shifted chevrons. So far looks like they're moving in the right direction. Keeping the name Earthquakes is a good move and using Quakes as a nickname is a good "rebrand"

If the extent of the rebrand is we end up with a red captain's band - as in the motifs above - and wear a retro red 3rd jersey on special occasion, I'm happy with that.

Wonder if we'll be wearing Inter/Rapids/Montreal blue n black stripes. Sigh.

Is the color red really going to be added back into the logo and jersey?

Yeah and I never saw a blue or black Earthquake! Not even in 1989! :)

But we adopted blue as our primary in 2000. Right?

And there are a lot of red white and blue teams also.

DC does that. Chicago. Red Bulls. The Revs. Chivas. Dallas. Am I forgetting anybody? Rapids 3rd strip...

No Earthquakes is part of our official name as in San Jose Earthquakes. Quakes would be a nickname. Unless you mistakenly thought the official name of the team was simply San Jose.

Maybe PacMan can be our jersey sponsor, and this can be the print on the front of our shirts.

The chevrons could represent geological striations in the earth. Also, chevron shaped bracing is used in earthquake retrofits.

The horizontal line in the "A's" of EARTHQUAKES used to be connected, but then there was an earthquake. The quake also caused the A's to shift a little bit to the right and take a piece out of the following letter's bottom left corner.

You might be reading too much into it, maybe they just copied the "A" from the Gals (moving the gap from right to left and thereby avoiding cries of plagiarism).

Well, my comment about being facetious was itself facetious!! :) And so that either makes the original comment non-facetious or doubly facetious, I'm not sure which.
