OOOOOOHHHH!!!! I like the new word mark if that's what it is. Particularly like they kept the oversized Q.
Yes, I would love rain all week except Thursday! Of course we need it, but one rain is not going to wipe out the drought. It will spoil the unveiling.
I am a big fan of internal caps. And from my perspective, eliminating the city name is a plus. San Jose sounds provincial for a team that should have regional draw, and that obnoxious song will no longer play after games.
Thanks for posting .... In typical BS fashion, lets all read into this way too much. The large "Q" implies there's more of a Quakes emphasis - I think we heard that already. I really like the "Faulted Strata". The red and white strata are slick! And I'm especially glad they're emphasizing "Unity, Devotion, Heritage" and not "Devotion, Unity, Heritage" because then our motto would be DUH. :0 I really like the wordmark at the bottom! EARTHQUAKES ---San Jose, 1974-- I hope it rains on the 30th. Only the real fans will show up.
In the spirit of reading too much into it, or just thinking too hard about it, I think line on the "Q" is straight, which makes it look like the power on / off / sleep button that we are all familiar with. A shout out to the valley's high techedness I'm sure :--).
Fortunately, the city name doesn't seem to have been eliminated and the full official team name seems to still rightfully be the San Jose Earthquakes. In fact, if what's pictured will indeed be the new official wordmark, then it's actually a return of the city name to the official wordmark. Also, notice that the larger capital letter Q is only among other capital letters in the apparent new wordmark (just like in the previous wordmarks), so the team name will still be San Jose Earthquakes (rather than San Jose EarthQuakes) when spelled out regularly. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
If the front office sees fit to change the name Earthquakes one iota or panders to one particular group or race in the process I will wash my hands of them.
The San Jose is still there, under the name. Which is fine as the team is the San Jose Earthquakes. Plus it's always been pretty minimized in our logos and whatnot so that wouldn't really be a change.
Beerking... I can't believe you and I actually agreed on something. Someone ought to check hell, that arctic cold snap might have just descended a bit further.
At the ssvcf dinner last night, there was a quakes banner over the check in desk that said something like "did you miss it? ", is that the teams tag line this season? If so, It was a bit obtuse for me.
No, it was probably one of the banners given out at a game once that said, "Are You With Us?". The Quakes did not provide us with any display banners.
It's a little creepy that Dave is walking around with the GG on. Normally, someone glances at you, no big deal, but if someone wearing the GG looks at you, you wonder where your picture is being broadcast. So I hope it portends a Google arrangement and isn't just Dave's latent voyeurism emerging.
If Dave is planning to augment the revenues with a spinoff business, then, ok, I get it. I was just reading an article about traveling with the Glass, and I could see the advantages of its translation and mapping utilities. But to wear it to a fundraiser/social event? If there were any porn movies being made, I totally missed that!
I fear change... I'm worried about the new crest. I hope they keep the old one for a third kit instead of abandoning it entirely.
I thought the sign was for the high school students, who should have turned right at the top of the stairs if they wanted to get to the dance.
