    This confuses me. A draft pick is something you use and then it's gone. An international roster spot is something you keep, right? Why would the Crew trade it away? Or am I wrong here -- do the spots reset every year, so that Vancouver will need to trade again to get spots for the 2015 season?

    You can trade away spots for any number of years (or permanently). I believe this one is only for one year.

    Correct, but I think it's always a one year thing. I seem to recall even reading that it was a rule, but that may be the gin talking.

    Its the gin. Salt Lake traded one to Colorado permanently, and Colorado traded one to Vancouver through 2031.
