How is this game on Monday? That's a major break from the last laliga break. The EPL goes into overdrive during the holidays while laliga takes a nap. Guess which league has better management?

The 6th of January is a holiday in Spain. It's the Dia de los Reyes, and it's a holiday in a few European countries.

The Bundesliga is praised for it's management yet it has a "winter break". I have no idea what you're trying to say.

The leagues in which it values the players rather than the money.

Would hate to be a player in the EPL and having to play for 2 years straight atm, end of the season straight into the world cup, straight into the pre-season and a season then no winter break......yeah real fun, if you like cutting your career short...

Seriously, coming from North American sports it always boggles my mind how long futbol season is to begin with, let alone with summer tournaments and all that stuff.

Yeah, right. Here in the US, each team plays 162 games in a regular season for Baseball. That's even more ridiculous.

I guess it's got to do with how much toll each game takes out of the players, never watched a baseball game but I can't imagine that much running is involved ...

No offense to any cricket lovers, but I come from South Asia (my parents do anyways) and Cricket (the test matches anyways) are the worst things to watch, EVER. It's like a 6-8 hour game, who the FU has time like that to blow? Sure it's about the players mental fortitude and endurance, but I'd rather just watch the highlights if I followed a sport that time consuming. That goodness I gave that up when I was 14.

I would say Cricket is my second favorite sport. I get what your saying about test cricket and I find them boring too, bar games played between top sides (South Africa, Australia, England & India). I enjoy watching the World Cups (ODI & T20) and IPL too.

In tests it is great to see top quality bowling attacks testing the batsman in pitch conditions with a lot of Swing/Bounce/Spin. The struggle to get accustomed to the conditions which then allows the batsman to take advantage and play his game.

Oh, that's a shame. I hope he and Varane (no clue what his situation is by the way, last I heard was that he'd been undergoing 'conservative' treatment to his knee) come back as soon as possible.

Varane is two weeks away from returning to training unless he has a setback.

Sucks. Bale has been one of the reasons to be excited for our games this season.

Bale is another one where the stats are misleading, he's been on the fringes of play for me too much especially with Ronaldo in the lineup. When he's been clicking with his teammates he has looked promising but he needs to get over this injury bullshit and get a decent run in the side, it's already January.

Ancelotti said he's putting more load onto the knee. He should be back training with the group in 10-15 days time.
