So what are odds of getting out of the group? I'd figure Bolivar will be the top dog unless the team has been gutted.

My guess is Bolivar would finish last. It's a very difficult group, but it wouldn't be surprising if they finished higher. The Libertadores is capable of pulling off surprise. My personal opinion is either Leon or Flamengo top the group and Emelec comes in as a close third.

I had a classic case of brain fart. I meant Leon the MX champ. I am quite familiar with them and they are pretty solid. Bolivar is dead last in this. Emelec could pull the same stunt like they did in Feb 2012.

Disregard my Bolivar pick. Leon is my top pick. Flamengo is a mixed bag in this draw. Ditto for Emelec.

Our signings will dictate what will happen IMO. With the current squad, I would tend to agree that we are a mixed bag.

BTW, I saw Kleberson is looking for a new club. Seems like the Middle East is the most likely of destinations.

My sentiments too. As for Kleberson, what a disastrous experience for him in Philly. He was by far the best player on the field whenever he was on, but who knows what happened behind the scenes.

As it stands today i don't see how you could call Leon a favorite given how they were last year in the libs.

Much more compact this season than the previous season. All the mercs are starting to gel so we'll see. Also, Copa Lib so unpredictable that last year's results mean diddly.

Not really, historically mexican teams tend to lose shape quite easy look at past libertadores and cwc's. Plus Morelia created chances at will over both legs and I would hardly say they are a juggernaut even though Jefferson Montero can ball. I watched every one of there matches in the liguilla and I would hardly call them a compact team who knows how to defend. The only big difference between this years team compared with last years is boselli. They lost to iquique last year which isn't a good indication. I normally agree with your point about past history not meaning anything but I think it does here. The mexican lg can be deceiving.

Fair enough about Mexican teams forms. However, Liga MX usually has one team that will make some noise. I still think Leon can get out of this group.

Diego Silva e Val podem deixar o Flamengo em 2014
Pouco aproveitados, ambos os volantes não estão nos planos da diretoria rubro-negra

Please tell me this will happen. Especially considering that Jayme wants to give Muralha a shot and we ar linked to Rodrigo Souza and Feijao. The way things seem to be shaping up, here's what I think the squad will look like...

    GK: Felipe, Paulo Victor, Cesar
RB: Leo Moura, Digao (possibly loaned), signing?
CB: Wallace, Samir, Welinton (Jayme seems to like him), Chicao/Gonzalez (I can see one of them staying or even both leaving. We were linked to Anderson Martins briefly, which could mean we are in the market for a CB)
    LB: Andre Santos, Joao Paulo
DM: Amaral, Elias, Luiz Antonio (might be gone since he took us to court), Muralha, signing? (Feijao, Rodrigo Souza)
AM and wingers: Cadu, Rodolfo, Negueba (Jayme seems to rate him), Gabriel (Pelaipe said he wouldn't go anywhere), Paulinho, Nixon, Rafinha (loaned probably), signing?
    ST: Hernane, signing?

Released or Loaned: Frauches, Digao, Chicao/Gonzalez, Val, Diego Souza, Adryan (linked to Italy), Mattheus, Rafinha

When does Flamengo cut bait on Elias? It feels like sporting is ready to wait until the end of January.

Well, if we aren't going to spend for a number 10 or a player like Cicero, we might as well use resources to get Elias. We just can't overpay.

The latest Fla rumors are that we are close to Everton and Leo, both from Atletico-PR. Everton used to play for Fla and was solid. He had actually played left back for us when Juan went down. As a #10, I'm not really sold on him. I hopefully young players like Rodolfo can still see time, especially in the Carioca. Leo had a good season and is a good option to rotate with Leo Moura, depending on how much Vitoria (owner of his rights) ask for him.

Didn't Everton flop in mexico? And idk why Leo would want to leave regular football every week to backup Leo Moura.

Yeah, he was average and his transfer broke the previous record.

Léo wouldn't playing regularly, but he wouldn't really be the backup. If there are 2 games a week, he'd play one and LM the other. LM has to be retiring after this year anyways.

I'm not a big fan of playing with the back 4's chemistry especially since there is practically no preason in brazil. If Leo sits on the bench every libertadores game how isn't that a backup?

He'll still be playing once a week. Most backups will only see 10-15 minutes every other game rather than a full 90 once a week.

Interesting. I lost track of him when he got dealt to the Middle East and I haven't seen any of Bordeaux this year. Solid player IMO.

Léo will stay at Atletico. They activated the buy clause in his loan deal with Vitoria at the last minute. It sounds like Leo wanted to come to Fla.
