SKC's Facebook page now includes an image of how the badge on the primary jersey will look next year with two stars above it--one gold, one silver. Of course, a new secondary jersey will be unveiled shortly before the season begins. It remains to be seen whether the third (argyle) kit stays in the mix, given the team's disappointing performance when wearing it so far (1-2-1, all at home).
yeah thats what i was thinking. Galaxy didn't use it last year but I figured it was just because we had it the year before and wanted to mix things up a bit. The gold star is very small though, I'd prefer we stick with the scudetto or copy the BPL and make the MLS badge gold for the champions
I think the MLS logo being gold might be the best option. That why we can save the gold star for representing 5 or 10 championships.
Agreed Although I think after a while stars will stop being used, it's nice while our league is young but after another 50 or so years i'd imagine it'll look kinda silly.
Unless we start using a system like Serie A or Bundesliga where one star accounts for multiple championships. We could eventually have it to where one star equates to 10 Cups or something along those lines.
Yeah, that's a circumstance well down the line. It's something to consider should DC or LA win, though a number of MX clubs have quite a lot of stars all over their crests.
Inside the stars, they have pictures of the MLS Cup. I wonder if it will look like that on the jersey. If so, that would be pretty cool.
They'll change at least one. The Union is supposed to have new home & away shirts for the 2014-15 seasons, while the alternate Bethlehem Steel shirt would presumably run through this upcoming season, its second, then be retired for another throwback uni at the start of the 2015 season.
Simple solution. A large star represents either 5 or 10 championships. Small star represents 1... still a ways from there though.... I'm sure something will be figured out when we cross that bridge. Example:
eh I'd almost prefer that single big star every 5 or 10. Your idea might be a good transition though between current and future system. The gold MLS badge I think is still the best/coolest way to designate the reigning champions.
I just think you'd have a hard time "stripping" stars from teams that have had them on their shirt for years... if a team has 2 stars on their jersey from 2 cups 40 years ago, and they've had them the whole time, are they going to suddenly take them off of their shirt because some other clubs have won 10 championships and are using bigger stars now?
Let the clubs free to do whatever they pleased on the star department. If United wants to dress a black version of this, they should be allowed to: P.S.: I loved this in 1994, I still do almost 20 years later.
agreed, which is why I think your version is a good bridge to it. Eventually something will have to change though
MLS has been doing that for quite a while. On all of the authentic and game-worn shirts, the star is silver and the cup inside is prismatic and changes colors depending on how the light hits it.
