Alert: UEFA CL Group F Matchday 6: SSC Napoli (Home) vs. Arsenal FC (Away) @ Stadio San Paolo [R]

enough positivity, its time to throw some players under the bus, I have a strange feeling they are all afflicted with Dzemailitis, so we have to keep them on their toes. Bash them all.

But Wednesday, one of the toughest games of the season at home, we must be out for scalps, I am hearing 3-0 is what we need? That’s a heavy ask since our defenders have the mental cognition of a gnat, but perhaps they can read a few books and gain some perspective and perhaps remember that they are defenders, and stop kicking the ball into our own net. Tough ask though, but if we win and we still get bounced out of the Champions League, we can hold our heads high, and I will tell you why.

This was a tough group, and typically in UEFA CL qualification it comes down to how you perform, unfortunately we were in an incredibly tough group, but Arsenal losing at home to Dortmund, and Arsenal winning at their place, it flipped the group on its head. Throwing us under the bus, not to get too mathematical, but it would have been way easier on us if Arsenal finished the job on Dortmund at home, even with us losing to Dortmund at their place.

Anyways no time to sulk, we must move forward, and even if we don’t get a 3-0 win, and we still win at home, we can hold our heads high, you will have some that will critique Napoli because “you lost by *this* many goals, you were unworthy of the knockout stages” but typically, say we get 12 points and go out, 12 points is more than enough, and I don’t recall any Italian team getting 12 points in the group stages of CL in a long time. Typically its 10 points, but nobody expected Marseille to be this garbage and not get any points, perhaps they will play for pride against a completely depleted Dortmund midfield and defense, but they are French, and typically playing for Pride means rolling over.

But enough about that, time for introductions

Our players need to play the game of their lives and their next lives to even think about getting 3 goals on Arsenal while keeping a clean sheet. Perhaps some Rafa magic, I keep hearing about from Liverpool fans will get us through, maybe Marseille will play like a team with pride for a day and beat Dortmund (we’ll see…)?

Unfortunately its come down to this, where we have to rely on outside factors and other teams for our own destiny. We say that all we need is 3 goals, but Arsenal have only conceded 3 goals once this season at the beginning of the season and they have conceded the least amount of goals in the Premier League. We will need to pray to Padre Pio, random hot italian women talismen, do the rain dance on Monte Vesuvio, pray that Pablo Armero grows a Brain, pray that Maggio isn’t useless, pray that Inler remembers how to pass, pray that Pandev keeps up the form (keep calling him a twat its working), Higuain scores goals for fun.

Obviously I was always optimistic we can beat anybody at the San Paolo, the Prem League teams taken down at the San Paolo were Manchester City who won the title and the Chelsea side who won the Champions League. Arsenal are a fantastic side, and its with all due respect to them that I say that Napoli can beat an English team here again. We have no choice but to do it. By 3-0 though? Even the most optimistic me thinks thats an incredibly tall order.

IF we do it and we still get bounced out, maybe our players will get some confidence in themselves and take that momentum into Serie A/Coppa Italia/Europa League. Because, shit, if we end up in the Europa League, we may as well try to win the damn thing.
