No, they all had full, proper press conferences and the whole spiel, but the league took the opportunity to shout it at halftime of the Cup final, somewhat similar to what Garber did during halftime of this past ASG about the four more teams by 2020 story.
As a part of joining MLS, Phil Rawlies mentioned that the club crest would need to be re-done since the ownership for the trademark would now be property of MLS, rather than the club which the current logo is. As a part of the crest, Rawlies did say the club colors and name would remain the same. And they are still the Lions. Here are two ideas for a MLS crest. Concept#1 Concept#2 I personally prefer Concept #1
Actually I consider the Lions in Concept #1 as being Noble. Concept #2 portraits the Lions as being Fierce.
Another part in it for me is the text style, and centering of the Crest. I find it to flow a bit better.
It's going to be November 19 according to Ives http://www.soccerbyives.net/2013/11/orlando-announced-expansion.html
https://twitter.com/OCPres/status/400603644992950272 The hashtag is #OrlandoIsReady. I have some (hopeful) ideas, but nothing concrete.
Ahh, they're using the old Cheyenne Saloon at Church Street Station for the announcement. There are still things open at CSS, and they close the street at that time every evening to enable bar hopping and the like. So this is perfect. There is also an announcement on Monday at 3pm at the Orlando Health Heart Institute. This likely means Orlando Health will remain involved in the team beyond this season.
Big news coming to Orlando City Soccer next week http://www.bizjournals.com/orlando/blog/2013/11/big-news-coming-to-orlando-city-soccer.html
The last five years? A rollercoaster. I mean you go back five years, you start with the vaporware Pachuca-sponsored USL franchise, and the Rowdies, who became the not-Rowdies (and Ralph's Mob kicking out Orlando-based early members). Then the Orlando announcement in early 2010 by Steve Donner, and Phil moving here and taking it over. It's been all up from the moment Phil took the effort over, and now it looks like we're finally here. I just wish I could afford to go to the MLS Cup weekend and visit the Supporters' Council meeting.
