So... Does Carlos Ruiz even play for DC United still? Just asking, have not seen any of him on bench, roster, etc.... What is his deal?
I had thought that for a while he was injured. I just went to DCU's website to confirm that, but was unable. There used to be a page you could go to to see players' injury status, players in yellow peril, etc. That page appears to have been fired with everyone else working for the front office.
Thanks for your reply. Guatemalan press contacts asking. I believe his b-day was on the 15th, so not surprised if he cut out to Guatemala ala-Hooters to party. Curious tho.... tons of games not even on the bench... he cut? Anyone? Him and Ben not getting along? DC finally figure out how much of a mistake he was? Thanks for any input.
Ruiz has hardly seen the pitch at all this season, but when he does appear he has been on his best behavior. And despite his age, I think he still can be lethal near the goal.
I had completely forgotten he was ever part of the team until I saw this thread. Thanks for ruining my day. Damnit. Somehow this thread made me remember Pajoy too.
I hope Ruiz fell into an open manhole and was able to survive only be eating his own limbs. Then I hope he ran out of limbs.
His attitude? Everywhere he's been he's been heralded as a positive influence in the locker room. People can say whatever they want about flopping but the man has integrity to report three national team colleagues and friends for match fixing. He cares about the game and every team he's played for. It's funny to see people who don't understand this take shots at him from the cheap seats.
I was going to do that but the bastards in security confiscated my rifle before I could get it in. Also, you're probably either stupid or drunk if you think he's anything other than a malignant infection on the game, league and team. At least we can thank our lucky stars that he never cheapened the once-honorable DC jersey by celebrating a goal in it.
Didn't happen. I've been boycotting those stupid friendlies since at least the Real Madrid game in Seattle.
Yeah, that's just not true to the point of being laughable. There are a lot of stories from his days in LA and Dallas where his teammates say he wasn't the most committed in terms of his professionalism and work ethic.
Opposite of what I know. Yeah, he parties, but he's a great teammate. Yeah, he was so unprofessional that he was the CAPTAIN of FC Dallas. He was so unliked by team mates at the Union that when he left, Roger Torres dedicated this goal to him: Regarding his time in L.A., the guy was averaging a goal a game, he could have been not gone to practice once and people still couldn't talk shit, he single handedly won that franchise a championship.
I am telling you that based on things that came to me directly from Dallas and LA players, he was not the positive locker room influence you suggest. That doesn't mean he was unliked. Just that he wasn't a model professional and locker room leader. He's Carlos Ruiz and therefore not worth it for me to use emotional energy on a back-and-forth. I'm just reposting what I've been told. You can choose to accept it or not.
