2013-2014 Bundesliga Match Day 5 Borussia Dortmund versus Hamburger SV (HSV) Saturday, September 14, 2013, Westfalenstadion, Dortmund – Kickoff: 6:30 PM CET Undefeated Borussia Dortmund comes out of the international break on top of the Bundesliga, two points ahead of defending champions and also undefeated FC Bayern München. When Saturday evening’s match against HSV kicks off, Bayern will have already played at Hannover 96. Saturday’s matchup between Borussia Dortmund and HSV is more than just a matchup between the Bundesliga’s first and twelfth placed teams respectively. For Borussia Dortmund, this meeting has to be seen as a chance for revenge. Surprisingly, HSV defeated Borussia Dortmund in both Bundesliga meetings between the two clubs last season. In the first meeting of the last season between the two clubs on September 22, 2012 in Hamburg, HSV ended Borussia Dortmund’s 31 match Bundesliga unbeaten streak, taking a 3-2 decision. HSV then shocked the world by handing BVB their asses in a 4-1 HSV victory at Westfalenstadion on February 9, 2013. Before these HSV victories, the last time HSV had beaten BVB in the Bundesliga was in a 4-1 decision in Hamburg back on August 15, 2009. Borussia Dortmund was battling a host of injury issues and in my pre-match report here, I wrote: “Who knows? With all the health issues Borussia Dortmund is facing, this could be the time for HSV to steal one in Dortmund……” However, no one pictured it being as bad as it was……… If I remember properly, it was the match Klopp resorted to playing Sven Bender at left back. It was f#cking horrible! Anyhow, in-between HSV’s victory back in August 2009 and HSV’s sweep of BVB last season, Borussia Dortmund won four of the five matches played with HSV. The other was a draw. The latest reports I’ve seen out of Dortmund says coach Jürgen Klopp is planning for the match with striker Robert Lewandowski in the lineup. Both of BVB’s starting Polish internationals, Lewandowski and Jakub Blaszczykowski (Kuba) came back from international duty with knee issues. Lewandowski’s knee issue was diagnosed as tendonitis. Kuba’s knee issue was diagnosed as a MCL strain. I think we’ll see Lewandowski start, but I doubt Kuba will play. I think we’ll see Aubameyang get the start on the right side of midfield. Also in that 4-1 loss to Hamburg Lewy was given a straight red (3 match suspension too) for his kick on a Hamburg player. So Kuba has an MCL strain... Think he'll be fit for our mid-week match against Napoli? I don't remember seeing him take a knock against San Marino (although he was subbed off around the hour mark I believe).
I don't remember it being a kick. I remember it being a reckless/dangerous challenge. As I remember, Lewa saw the guy, knew the guy would get to the ball first, but still took him out with a bad challenge. I wasn't very popular with the fans I usually discuss BVB with as I insisted Lewandowski deserved the red card. I haven't thought that far forward. I want to see us get revenge on HSV before I start thinking about Napoli. One match at a time........

I really enjoy NT duty, but now we're back to club. Oh well, a plus is I get to see BVB play again. I'm hoping for a 4-1 scoreline. Payback time.

I think the main thing for Lam is that he needs more consistent playing time. He showed good promise when Rodolfo Cardoso was their caretaker manager a couple seasons ago and gave time opportunities as a starter. His progression stagnated last season while sitting on the bench and playing with the reserves.
Well .. yeah. He hasnt gotten much playing time so far in his career but he is still young( recently turned 22). He's shown good performances before. He can attack, hopefully with experience can improve defensively. He's rated highly in Hamburg. It would be funny if Germany have Lahm at right back and Lam at left back.
Expected them to pull two goals back completely. Shame. Really hate how predictable this gameplan is making Dortmund at times.
And I hate how easily we still give up leads. How can this be? We have the greatest coach in the world! (sarcasm) Torsten Fink may not be able to coach his way out of a wet paper bag, but he seems to know how to compete with Klopp.
Dortmund doesn't play a sophisticated brand of football. It's hard to stop because it's very quick but if your team is fit and organized any team can do damage to this Dortmund side. Why Hamburg is more motivated against Dortmund, I have no idea. 5 goals in 5 matches for PEA. Seems to like scoring from difficult positions.
