Taken out of context. The quote was IF they want to expand by 4 teams in one year, then 3 would already be spoken for.

Then he said that they're not going to do that, and the next couple of years would be for evaluating which are the right markets.

Please stay out of Miami. Crappy market. Where would a Miami team play,Sun Life Stadium? I hope not. Way to big.

Given the big names being mentioned around Miami, I think we can be pretty confident they'll build a SSS, and use sun life for a few limited games at most.

The only places where NFL stadiums are being proposed are Atlanta and Minnesota, and in both cases it's a definite strike against them.

 

I've just got a bad feeling about Miami. The team would have to have a SSS.I would hate to see them playing in a cavernous Sun Life Stadium.

The real question is, how will these 2 opposing bids shake out?

Miami is not getting 2 teams.

Right now the dolphins owner and the Beckham group are both separately working on a bid.

Would they join forces? If neither backs down with this get ugly? Would becks take his ball and go to another city?

I think you're right. MLS liked how the Northwest teams came in close to each other creating rivalries. They want to be in the Southeast and want a couple teams there that can be regional rivals. I'm less sure about Atlanta. But the new Falcons stadium is looking like a sure thing which should make Atlanta a lock.

Yes. Poor Miami only has two different billionaires talking about wanting to set up shop there, one of whom is partnering with a global soccer icon the league already has a contractual obligation with in regards to an expansion franchise .

But you're right, if MLS has any sense, they'll go with STL. Sure there may no ownership group or even rumors of one, but I;m positive the existing I-Os will will establish a team and pay for running it until one comes along. Because people in St. Louis love soccer. Got it.

 

Until the investor has stadium plans secured, nothing is a done deal. Garber will try to give the impression that there is only one spot left in order to create a sense of urgency. He did the same with Toronto, saying that it would be the final round of expansion for the foreseeable future, then just continued expanding in subsequent years.
