Mikkel "Mix" Diskerud. No double X. No double U. Since he was a key part of our Dos a Cero tonight, I figured we should get it right. Oh, and DOS A CERO!!!
I'm going with two x's because I really want that to be a thing. Either way, does anyone think the kid deserves to start? Or do we keep bringing him off the bench? He's been brilliant coming in and running at defenses late, so that's probably what we keep doing with him, but, man, is the kid skilled or what?
Norway is really kicking themselves right now. They might qualify for Euro 2016 since it's upgraded to 24 teams but can't see them ever making it again to a World Cup.
The fact that Norway is 4th place in a group as weak as theirs (Switzerland, Iceland, Slovenia, Albania, Cyprus) is totally embarrassing... ...it's almost as bad as being 5th in the hex!
Back to a more serious question, how did we find him ? How does JK keep coming up with these players? Is our scouting system that large and good, or our players now see how the USA is playing and call us? Does JK have an eye for talent ? Besides the German-Americans, he has done a pretty good job with the Mexican-Americans as well. I agree, our last 2 WCQ he needs to be give some more playing time. I wonder if JK is going to have us go after wins in these games to win the hex ? Does winning the Hex do anything for us, other than keep winning and move up the FIFA rankings ?
Well at least, like Iceland with strikers, they are fairly deep at the CM position. Stefan Johansen, Markus Henriksen, Magnus Wolff Eikrem, and Håvard Nordtveit aren't too shabby. Their bigger regret is keeping "Drillo".
A youth coach for Stabæk told Rongen about him after a match between the US U-20s and their reserve/youth team. Apparently.
The best midfield that the USA can put out right now at the same time is Bradley Cameron and Mix Just sayin' Beckerman is a good reserve 6. Jones is a hybrid who is very valuable .....,if he plays smart an disciplined which only seems to happen at home matches Mix is a freakin pastry chef. He makes sweet things. I expect him to get many minutes and perhaps even start in 2014
And I'm fairly sure that Bob was the first one to cap him, not JK. He had already been labelled one for the future After his work on the goal tonight (or last night, technically speaking) and this one: (on his first cap, mind you) I would say the kid has earned himself a look for a starting spot. He'll have two matches to do so now that we've qualified, and he should start each. He's as good a fit for the #10 role as anyone else we've put there, and might be the only #10 in the pool fit enough to start with our first XI.
And one thing to keep in mind, in general, is that a player can easily be higher on the depth chart in a stronger national team. Most national teams are very uneven in depth from position to position, because national teams can't go out and buy players to fill holes. We're no exception; we've looked like a whole nation of holding midfielders in recent years.
Maybe in honor of making another dos a cero, we should christen him Mixx Diskeruud. (And speaking of nicknames on a related note, how did Bacon come up? )
Maybe one of these days Norwegians will wake up, admit they lack " kultchuh" and hire an Italian or Spaniard to run their team. They are the Stoke City of international football
