Hooray!!!!! NFL Kickoff Weekend 2013 has started though delayed over half an hour due to thunder and lightning.
Are the Broncos this good or are the Ravens (specifically the defense) that bad? Surely it's a combination of the two. These definitely aren't the same Ravens that beat the Broncos in the playoffs and won the Super Bowl.
They're this good. Nothing happened since last season (where they were very, very good) to make me think they wouldn't take back up where they left off.
Denver D was also missing some pieces like Von and Champ last night. Another thing to keep an eye on is how Denver's running game will end up like. I wasn't impressed with any of the backs last night and Peyton had to throw the ball to run out the clock.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9640640/tim-tebow-refused-change-positions-report Tim Tebow has been contacted by at least one NFL team, but refuses to change positions. I now know this guy doesn't want to play football anymore. He won't even think about getting his foot in the door and maybe getting a chance here or there to play at QB.
It's about his only wanting to play QB. He will reject any alternative offer to play a different position.
That's what I'm saying. He hit the same ceiling a hundred other young men hit every season once they're eligibility's done, just took him longer, and at least he made some money. I think Tebow the athlete could land an NFL job at another position, and probably a CFL QB job, but if being a big man in Gainesville, Florida is the extent of his football ambitions, that would've shown itself soon enough. As former Florida QBs go, he maybe could have been better than Spurrier. Now he's probably fourth, behind Rex Grossman and behind Shane Matthews, AFAIC. Hereby demoted to Buck Belue/Jay Barker/Danny Wuerffel status. More power to him in the future, unless he runs for public office or something...
Spurrier is a dick of the highest order. Honestly, how could any recruit contemplate playing for him is beyond me. He is such an unlikeable guy.
ESPN retired the butt-fumble too soon. The play that would finally have beaten it started the Pittsburgh- Titans game... The butthead safety?
Not sure everyone quite understands what the commisioner means when he asks for an increased emphasis on safety...
Vol fan, huh? He's unlikeable if you're not on his team. He can be abrasive, but you know that up front. You have no idea what it's like to play for any other coach in cfb, because they don't say out loud what they're thinking. My guess is, it isn't any better or worse playing for him than playing for anyone else. The difference, between 1993 and 2001, was that he won as much as anyone, and more than most. Pouncey... Foote... maybe the Braves'll come thru for me.
My vikings got dominated by Detroit today... Despite the lions best effort to give us chances in the game especially in the 1st half. Be happy Ponder isn't your teams Qb...
Not a Volunteer fan at all. I have no use for all that Rocky Top crap or the team and particularly the colors. I wouldn't apologize for Spurrier. Yeah he is like a lot of coaches, but he is a dick. Now don't get me started on Bo Pelini and others.
There was a 3rd-down play early in the game where there were two personal fouls called (one against each team) and the ref offset them and let the 49ers replay the down where they subsequently scored a touchdown. However, the rule is that if they offset, it still counts as the down having been played. It should have been 4th-down instead and the 49ers would have been forced to attempt a field-goal (presumably). Honestly though, it may not have affected the outcome of the game but it was a big ref blunder (the crew was suspended after).
Yeah, he might be gone after this season. The guys we let go over the last couple seasons are going to help other teams. We built Heinz Field to keep guys from leaving like they did in the 90s, and now, we're still trying to go cheap. I asked because he's been particularly ugly to Tennessee over the years, quotewise. I don't know anything about him- what'd he do?
It was reviewed yesterday and determined stayley didn't deserve a penalty there. Actually should have been a 1st down for the Niners.
