I can't think of any example in world history that a prima donna football star has voluntarily taken a pay cut. I'm sure it has happened and maybe someone can refresh my recollection, but it makes no sense to me, knowing what we know about the egos involved and just common sense in general. Speaking of course about the wishful thinking and fantasizing we are all doing re: Torres to Valencia. Valencia is a huge step down in prestige, playing Europa league, selling their best players every window and maybe has an outside shot to battle for 3rd or 4th in the Liga - and he's going to leave millions on the table for this great opportunity?
I'm sorry man - just thinking out loud. I would love to see our boy Fernando follow his bliss and return to ply his trade in the Spanish motherland.
No worries. You're right about it though. My only hope is that due to this being a world cup year he'll want to play. Perhaps Valencia can offer that.
Well, yes, he did. http://www.weaintgotnohistory.com/2...al-kenneth-omeruo-granted-work-permit-england
Maybe Romeu can talk him into joining him there...and maybe Mata can talk up his old stomping grounds...and maybe Mikel will score one day.

I don't understand letting Turnbull go but keeping Hilario. Unless Ross wasn't ok playing third fiddle to Schwarzer.
I think he wanted more games and he was not getting that with us. He got paid pretty well and won more trophies than the entire Arsenal squad combined so I do not think there are any hard feelings.
I don't think there are hard feelings either, actually kind of the opposite. After seeing his son running around in a Chelsea shirt getting the crowd going, I kind of thought Turnbull might become our next Ferreira. I would think he'd rather make more money, train and be part of a top side and play in the odd match here or there than drop down to League One and working for Paul Dickov.
just my opinion but I think it was more or less a mutual split. Ross wanted more games and I think Chelsea and Lochillon realized that he was not going to get any better than he was. I know Lochillon really thought he could develop Ross into a solid #2 but with Courtois now the primary heir apparent to the gloves I think all parties saw the writing on the wall. I am a little surprised we let a homegrown player go without replacing one (although that may still occur) as the numbers are getting a little tight in terms of qualified homegrown players. 1. A. Cole 2. Bertrand 3. JT 4. Cahill 5. Lampard 6. Moses that still leaves us two spots to fill 7. 8. and the remaining places for the non homegrown players 9. Cech 10. Schwarzer 11. Hilario 12. Azpilicueta 13. Ivanovic 14. Luiz 15. Mikel 16. Essien 17. Ramires 18. Oscar 19. Schurrle 20. Mata 21. Hazard 22. DeBruyne 23. Ba/Torres 24. 25. That still leaves us having to make room for one of Ba and Torres as Kalas, Lukaku and Van Ginkel will not count against the cap. this is where the very quiet situation on Sam Hutchinson or very loud deal with Rooney may come into play
Kalas and Lukaku will be homegrown however, correct? So even though they may not count as hits against don't they count as hits in favor as academy players?
Kalas is not homegrown and the only time the bizzare Academy trianed destination comes into play is with UEFA
fernb8 So the FA doesn't follow the same guideline? Well that makes a lot of sense.... So after Kalas and Rom turn 21 we lose their exception status? What a fecking mess.
