I like the name, not sure what are the colors convinations ? black, white & gold ? damm i'm going blind here
Red, gold, black, white. Drawing inspiration from the state flag and Sacramento's gold rush history. I think they did a nice job getting fan feedback and choosing a marketable name/shield. Getting things off on the right foot. Now, we'll see if the fans show up..
I think that video is good too. Right feel. I also thought the questions on this were interesting: http://sacrepublicfc.com/community/support-the-republic/ "I'm the one shouting salty language!" was a good option too see. This ain't gonna be a kiddie show.
I forgot brown, I guess that is a tertiary color. Is there any green in there? I can't really tell. I love the promo video - can't find myself in there yet..
Got to see the official announcement at Raley Field in West Sacramento this evening (Dorados Norwich City game). Sold out crowd seemed super excited for the new team. Can't wait to see it come together for next season.
I believe the colors were option #2 in the naming contest so they were brown, green, red (more like a burgundy). From re-watching the video and based on the Battalion's tshirt color I have a feeling the team will wear a burgundy jersey. Did anyone notice the badge the All-Stars team was wearing that incorporated the Tower Bridge? A picture of the logo was included in the team list they passed out at the front gate.
how large was the crowd last night? hope they are doing a high light video of some sort to show fan excitement and the success over all of the game crowd last night.
They announced a crowd of over 14k. There were cameras there to broadcast on the big screen and in the section next to me they filmed the crowd doing the wave for a commercial. Hopefully they can use that footage for a highlights reel. It appears the people who don't like the crest are complaining of the red star and republic as sounding too communist. Which is hilarious because both appear on the state flag. Other people commented that it looks like a beer logo but that to me is a good thing.
I love the logo, its easy to recognize and for those of us here on the west coast its quick and easy to identify and say, o that's Sacramento's team. for those who don't know where Sacramento is, it maybe easier to make a comparison with state flag to know its in California, over all I like it very much
The star is there to represent Sacramento as the Capitol. People commenting about communism are idiots who need to stop watch Glenn Beck.
Nice write-up in the Sacramento Press... http://www.sacramentopress.com/head...nd_what_we_learned_from_Sacramento_Soccer_Day I'm not sure about the TBB not having anywhere to sit. Maybe true, but most of them seemed to make their way over to section 124, where they were chanting and singing during the Dorados/Norwich game.
Haha. Right on. Did you ever find yourself in the commercial? My wife and I were in it. They altered the color of the jersey I was wearing that evening.
The Supporters Group had tickets for sections 124 and 125. From the sounds of it, tickets for that section were sold to the general public and therefore that caused issues where people who just want to sit and enjoy the game were mixed in with a supports group that wanted to do what a supporters group does best. I was wondering why the Battalion was being so quiet as I was sitting in section 120. From reading the article and looking at their Twitter page it appears security took their megaphone and asked them to sit. Hopefully, they can resolve this when they play in Hughes next year. A vocal Supporters Group is vital to the atmosphere at games.
That was my immediate thought as well. I few seconds later I thought about this: It would be a pretty sweet concept if a manufacturer can properly pull it all.
Then what will they they watch in Placer County? Oddest comment I heard about the name was wondering whether it would be controversial in the way that Houston 1836 was controversial. Remember that? In other words, isn't "Republic" all about the Bear Flag Revolt and the cession of California from Mexico? I guess it sort of is -- if we're going to be truly historical for why that word is on the state flag. But that's not all that word means. And either way, I really don't care.
