Favorite moment would have to be any goal by Jozy during this streak. I don't think he's scored 4 goals in a row before.

Well, I mean, if we even make it as far as the match in Costa Rica without breaking the win streak, that means we will be carrying a twelve-game winning streak which includes Germany, Jamaica, Panama, Honduras, Costa Rica, one of Costa Rica or Honduras again, probably Mexico, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. That would be very satisfying in and of itself. By the time we're out of the Gold Cup and playing Costa Rica on the road, I'll be happy with just picking up a point in qualifying.
Jozy's scoring versus Germany and then continuing the streak; LD back and playing head and shoulders above the rest; Wondo cause well you just gotta hand it to a guy who scores 5 goals in two matches; the end-to-end sequence that finished with Shea's goal; Holden showing no signs of frailty; Diskerud showing plenty of moxie; seeing Tab Ramos on the bench; JK's latest unveiling of a new Nike polo shirt (a pretty ugly red/blue hoop striped polo with the number 13 on the right chest opposite the US crest).
Yup. Gotta rep Seattle. My favorite moment though was crowd going bonkers after Johnson scored the 2nd goal. It was then that people realized that, yup, we've got 10 pts in the bag and "we are going to Brazil". Unbelievable atmosphere.
My favorite moment is not really a moment, but a person, Klinsmann. It has been very assuring seeing Klinsmann's ability to adapt his tactics to each game, especially as he's continued to understand the team he has. I remember before and at the beginning of his appointment as manager, people constantly using the Lahm quote as how Klinsmann was a nightmare at coaching, tactically, but we have seen that emphatically not be the case. Though it has been noticeable for a while. I think it was encapsulated last night against Costa Rica in the sequence leading up to the goal. Sean Johnson was kind of a surprise move for me, but showed composure and confidence the entire game, and had that huge game changing save on the header. This was then followed by the ball out to Corona, who had a rough start to the Gold Cup, but whom Klinsmann has stuck with, has continued to show progress, and had that inch-perfect ball out to LD while under pressure (play of the game for me). Klinsmann is quoted as how he is going to push Donovan to get to match fitness (and prove himself, though LD has done more than that), has played Donovan the most minutes of any player, and had that perfect assist in the 81st minute. Finally, we get to Shea, whom people were crucifying after his stinker last game, leading people to say he is done, he should not be called up, should return to Stoke, etc. But Klinsmann sticks to his guns, showed confidence in Shea, (and though not the best of finishes) gets the job done. I'm not saying Klinsmann is the Messiah of US soccer, but his results and the progress we have shown should not go unnoticed.
Reminds me in a way of DeBoer to Bergkamp in WC 98 v Argentina. Not nearly as sublime, but still a sweet combination.
Well, I think JK can use his job with the USMNT as the highlight of his resume as a coach now. That is, if everything goes according to plan, and the team qualifies first in the region. I think JK is fairly predictable tactically, and it's not rocket science to figure out the starting lineups he'll be using according to the rival. Where he's been ace of late is in the substitutions. I must admit I'm very happy that the same guy who screwed up with the subs against Honduras less than a year ago, now is finding time and again the exact formula that works. I underestimated Klinsmann, I thought it was going to take him a lot longer to get it right. He does things I don't get at first, but only get once they work on the field. That tells me he is better at it than me. I think that's not bad praise from a fan, since (after all) we're, for the most part, armchair coaches.
+1 ... Now if he'd just get our CB depth chart in order (and give John or Okugo a chance) I'd be completely satisfied
As of 7/22, we're now at a winning streak of 9. Very impressive, but keeping it going from this point forward is going to be tough because the quality of opponents is going to pick up and we're going to play a few matches on the road. Schedule for the rest of the year if we are able to beat Honduras in the Gold Cup: vs Honduras (10) vs Mexico/Panama (11) @ Bosnia and Herzegovina (12) @ Costa Rica (13) vs Mexico (14) vs Jamaica (15) @ Panama (16) The longest winning streak of all time is Spain at 15, which the US ended in 2009 with its 2-0 win in the Confederations Cup semi-final. It would be an unlikely feat to match or beat that with the schedule we have coming up, but I wonder how close we can get before faltering. @Bosnia and Herzegovina, costa Rica, and the Mexico matches seem like the most likely places for us to get a draw or lose first. vs Honduras and Panama will also be very difficult.
Even if we got past 15 it would never be considered as good seeing as a good chunk of those games came in the gold cup against weak teams and b squads
To disrespect any team in the gold cup by calling them a B team, or weak, shows a total lack of understanding about the game. Consider that the 23 on a B team are still among the best 50 players in their country. Bet you that many posters would LOVE to be among the best 50 at the restaurant chain they work for. !!!!
It's really disrespectful to label teams as B or weak teams. I daresay that 99.99% of the posters on these boards would give anything to be among the top 50 players in their country.
