Personally? Of course not. Ziereis, I hoped, had potential up top. And Maier too, as an option in midfield or out wide. Both still very young. But, what do I know?
You know I wasn't being a smart ass there. Just wanted to know what you know about those players. It is more than I know But OK man........
Sorry, dude, I wasn't trying to be an a$$. What I meant was that I have not seen them much or, really, enough to be able to make an informed decision on them. I am sure Garry and W/B can offer more insight than I can. Along those lines, I really miss the days of Loewen TV. But that is another story for another time, I guess.
Well, there is nothing I can say about Hertner as I havent followed him that closely. I only know he#s from Stuttgarts academy and went for Schlake because Keller and Heldt knew him. Now that the LB positions seems to be occupied by Kolasinac and Fuchs an 2nd Buli club seems the right option for him. some comments on the German boards are not that insightful either. He seems to suit more in Schmidts play of the game with two offensive pressing fullbacks. In case Feick leaves he's my prospect no.1 as LB cause he's faster than Volzy or the polish throw-in king. Koussou also seems to be on the same level. Koussous problem he can play everywhere RB, LB including both midfield wing positions. Steinhart is also around so there's much competition now on the LB. Who is also lurking around is Schwabl. Well, there's a lot smash talk going around from haching fans side. It seems the job was a favour of Schmidt to a friend who is Schwabls agent. He is described as not good enough for 3rd Buli play and did only play for Haching and was their captain cause his father calls the shots out there. He could probably the replacement of Aygün in leading the reserve. I always considered Adlung to be a central midfielder - I didnt like what I saw when he played LM at Cottbus. But for now it seems Schmidt planed with him to replace Halfar - who didnt leave cause Lautern did not reach promotion. I would like to see Adlung along with Stark in the central midfield - Adlung with the more offensive "Gündogan-stlye" part here. The only scenario where I can imagine Adlung playing LM is in a Raute. But who plays a Raute today? I hope he can ad to our standards which were awful in the last years. I also cant remember when we got the last penalty. In my vie Adlung could be the right guy for that. A "Drecksau" that every team needs. If Halfar will not leave it seems there's also a lot competition on our wings now: Tomasov, Adlung, Halfar, Stoppelkamp, evtl Wood, Koussou and Hain. I read some reports about yesterdays first training and heard some players themselves praising Yannick Stark. He was described as "pre-eminent, dominant, ball-winning, always ball-securing". I think I liked his performances vs us this April. He hold frankfurts midfield together, is much better skilled than Stahl, so not a pure destroyer. I know every new coach tried to replace Stahl and in the end the guy always came back. But this time I think Stark could play the more defensive role much better. I hope, Schmidt does not put Stark beside Stahl and Adlung on the wing. I think Stark and Adlung could be the center of our game. Well what to say about Hain, decent hängende spitze for 2nd Buli. Not more, not less. In my view they transfered him to put Lauth under pressure. Fried seems sacrosanct in Schmidts system. I didnt see him so much since Datschitown went up. To me he didnt seem to be the talented(fast, technique) as Volland. I fear the line-up after Schmidt could look like this: ----------------Kiraly----------------- Volz----Vallori-----Bülow---Hertner -----------Stahl----------------------- --------------------Stark-------------- Stoppelkamp------------------Adlung --------Hain/Lauth------------------- ----------------------Friend----------- I would prefer: ----------------Kiraly----------------- Koussou--Vallori----Bülow--Hertner -----------Stark----------------------- --------------------Adlung------------- Stoppelkamp--------Tomasov/Halfar --------Hain/Wood------------------- ----------------------Friend/Lauth----
Maier is a good young kid. I would ratie him like Gebhardt but not as hyped. Schmidt did not rate him which, for me, makes me think he might be good. Ziereis, I think, has the potential of a Mlapa. Had he been given a chance this year I think he might have netted a bunch. Again, he did not rate with Schmidt and was not a protected player. Two good reasons to question Mr. Schmidt's abilities.
So what you are saying is that they will likely go on and be starlets elsewhere? Where have I heard THAT tune before?
I think Ziereis has greater potential, but I think both are really a bit of a lesser known quantity than guys like Mlapa or Leitner or Volland. HOWEVER, my gut feeling says Ziereis will end up as another Volland -- or perhaps a better example is Traesch, who left us on a free and ended up being a stallwart for his teams. Maier I think is a bit more open as to who he will become. He may end up a Volland, maybe a Leitner or a Manuel Schaefer. Time will tell. First time in a long time I have NOT heard very much on a new trikot. The only thing the club said is that they will have them available on July 1st or there abouts. Thread below... http://www.loewenfreun.de/loewenforum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=24383 My bro was in Muenchen a few weeks back and tried to get me a home kit but they were sold out, so he got me an away kit instead.
Yes. I believe they are going with this young designer to save money: http://farm2.staticflickr.com/1095/1089796118_6d800bb1de_z.jpg?zz=1
They are for sure not a Volland, Bender, Mlapa or one of other we had to sell. and both havent performed on 2nd Buli level so far, especially Maier. Another difference is we didnt sell them. We just didnt extended their contracts. TBH, I consider FSV to be a relegation candidate despite Möhlmann and St. Paulis prospect is doubtful. This is the first summer I can live with our Abgänge since we got relegated.
Agreed. What I meant was that it is unclear if they can be like those players. I *think* they have the capability to be like a Mlapa or Leitner. For me Ziereis is a dark horse. I could see him going either way. Well, financially it would not have cost us much to put them on professional contracts and then sell them. Schaefer spends more on gas for his Aston Martin then he would have spent signing those two.
Fathi back to Mainz...for now. They will not let him go on a free (duh) and 1860 won't make an offer. Hertha is said to be interested. Great catch. Stupid of us to let him go. http://www.tz-online.de/sport/tsv-1...endgueltig-tisch-meta-2948080.html?cmp=defrss
Agreed. Why doesn't Sechzig go pilfer from players from Regensburg? Kamavuaka comes to mind, as does Carlinhos.
I think this goes together. It isnt necesseraily about the money - despite Ismaik. It is more about the roster already being full enough. from what I hear and understand Kossou, Geipl, Steinhart are more or less part of the first team. If we get to see changes then we'll see guys like Makos, Cluster-Feick or Halfar leaving and maybe a replacement for them. The Regensburg guys you mentioned add nothing up to our squad then filling up the benches, they are hardly gonna have a chance to play in the first team.
I feel for Makos. I think that injury in the summer and then never coming back fully really hurt him mentally, and Greeks have a "love complex" where they feel the need to start and be loved to play well. He just never settled after that. Sad because I had high hopes for him.
This may be true. I for my part think he got enough chances to perform. Like for guys already played a Euro quarter final. Maybe you simply can afford this lack of tactical knowledge in Greek soccer but not in 2nd Buli anymore. His running criss-cross over the field isnt even tolerable in 3rd Buli. Getting him off the payroll would be huge.
The difference is they were given a tactical concept that is called gegenpressing. if practiced the whole team stands in a somewhat crazy formation to the ball. Makos just did what is in German described as "komplett Amok laufen". Is it me or you who used to be a coach?
Schmidt's the shit calls for nothing but Aufstieg, but I guess they'll do it just to prevent even more people from giving their season tickets back.
Well, to be fair, at first he was doing gegenpressing quite well. However, Mauer was asking him to stay back too much which was causing those pockets in the center of the field allowing the opponent to amass and attack. This is the same way that Schmidt works the formation and it has never, ever worked well for us because we do not have the speed, experience or intelligence on the recovery to shutdown this spur. It was like an autobahn for the opponent to attack. Over 72% of the goals we allowed were either directly from this attack or from set pieces given when we had to foul a player who gained an advantage from this attack position and they scored as a result. Playing the 4-2-3-1 allows the DMs to play their role in gegenpressing. Without the CM, for us, the whole house of cards falls in on itself. Schmidt's record is evidence of this.
