This will be taking place in May and will essentially be the U16 national team, future U20s. It was mentioned briefly in the U17 thread, but what US Soccer called the 'U17 camp' for '97s is really more of a U16 camp. These were the call-ups from the camp a few weeks ago. The most well known is probably Cam Lindley. Not sure if the five '97s from the U17 team that just got knocked out will participate. Looks like it was 7-0 after 38 minutes................egads. Lennon and Saucedo each with hat-tricks so far. Both RSL.................................... DJ Villegas (Davis Legacy) had the other. Don't know about 8 and 9
Josh Deaver@USFootballGuy4m #USMNT U17 defender Peter Schoff with an impressive long range shot. I think it's 9-0. Josh Deaver@USFootballGuy1m Yeah, Kyrgyzstan has given up. 10-0 #USMNT
That was indeed the final score. We love to see that scoreline, but that's an uncompetitive match. I think you could start this team of US '97s against the freshman team of the high school down the street from me in Dallas............................and they wouldn't win 11-0.
Hope someone will have highlights. Granted, it IS Kyrgyzstan, but still would be nice to see how the goals looked
Same here, all I really want is to watch a US team at any level and not want to fall asleep or throw my remote at the tv after the game. If people are interested, I know some of the players tweeted out links to watch the game on Saturday. I saw them on USA Prospects twitter.
I can say without a doubt that the team did not win today because they were bigger or more physical. They built almost exclusively out of the back (Redding is incredible on the ball) and played some phenomenal attacking football overall. Pressed high, let the opposition make mistakes, and then took advantage with quick fluid passing sequences in their attack. Next game is Saturday at 11:00 ET against the hosts.
