The first kit isn't bad, however it reminds me of Sporting KC's colors too much. I would be shocked if we don't see this as the primary kit at least once if not for their debut. It could also be used as their 3rd. Looking forward to seeing their logo / crest, then their direction of the jersey will be clearer.

    Sorry, no kit.
    How about a crest?

Love the badge, but the colors are too Man City for my liking.

If you can somehow include orange and NYC blue into the badge then you'll have a gem!

I thought of that, but are the Yankees going to allow Mets colors?

But here it is in orange.

Or, you can be real dicks and steal the Cosmos colors.

I actually kind of like that. The influences are there, but they don't seem too forced. Clearly giving a callback to Man City without doing it outright. Too bad KC already "owns" this color scheme (more or less) in MLS.
Not digging that too much... Something looks, I dunno, off.
This is my second favorite version, but I'm not a fan of mixing yellow and gold. Either the Eagle and lettering needs to change or the stripes do.

So i just read the Borough Boys post titled "Why we support NYCFC" from 2008 and i am just wondering, is this still true today? Are the Borough Boys going to be the point people for the supporters club for NYCFC or not? Seems as though they are pretty enamored with the cosmos still.

I think we better forget a blue/orange combo. The Mets are the pantomime villain now, the way this has played out, and the Yanks own the team. I think we will very likely see sky blue, and possibly sky blue and navy pinstripes. I mean where else can they go with this? What other inspiration might they use?

Here are some (speculative) inspiration and concept images I saw posted on another website:

Excelsior should definitely be involved in the crest

I can totally see them ripping off the Gremio home kit. Instead of wide black stripes, they will use thinner Yankee blue stripes and keep the Citeh blue as the predominant color.

As much as I liked the earlier crest, this one beats it.

They can speak for themselves, but I'd wager they aren't to excited about supporting Man City USA and an ownership using thier city as a branding project. Of all possible MLS expansion announcements, this was a massive let down. Its liek Red Bull all over again, expect instead of killing a local franchise, this time they are killing all hope of a true and authentic NY franchise.

I refuse to believe that MLS spent all that money and time into creating what is essentially a AAA franchise. Man City have the money and know how to make this team a global brand. Any one who can see the big picture should be excited about this project, and I'm sure the Borough Boys will be in full support of NYCFC.

Also please stop acting like the Metrostars were this storied franchise that Red Bull killed. The Metros were already a terminally ill franchise that desperately needed a re brand. Red Bull bought the club, invested in the team and built the best stadium in North America for them. Any MLS franchise would kill for that type of investment.

If sky blue is indeed the primary color then I hope NYCFC follows Lazio's early 2000 kits.

The white/blue/gold makes for a really good looking jersey.

I think you underestimate the level of skepticism around this announcement...also the true ambitions of Man City in this expansion.

Considering the Metros were the only club I ever loved i resent your remarks. They had issues like a lot of teams, but they belonged to us, the fans, unconditionally. Red Bull did what a bunch of MLS owners have done, built a SS, invested and played ball. Many may kill for that investment, none would kill for that branding.

It was pretty much indicated that they were going to play in sky blue kits. So, the whole orange and blue scheme can be dropped. Whether or not any Yankees influence gets thrown into the mix, we'll have to wait and see. But, I believe the kits will resemble Man City much more than the Yankees.

I just don't think the MLS will experiment with another Chivas when so much was invested on this franchise. Do Man City have ulterior motives? Of course they do. But that doesn't mean that NYCFC will be a satellite club for Man City. There's a real chance that this franchise will be big, and in turn will help the entire league.

NYCFC will be a separate entity. Essentially NYCFC is owned by Shiekh Mansour. I believe the only reason Man City's name is being mentioned so much is for PR reasons given the Shiekh's human rights record. Of course there was always going to be a connection between NYCFC and City

I was thinking Gremio too or if they wanted to include orange do something similar to Marseille . I wouldn't mind either since it seems nyc flag colors are unlikely.

Where did you see the statement that they weren't using orange? This page indicates nothing more than a hint at only the sky blue color possibly being worn.
