Anybody know if KSG is planning to host some sort or Int'l match at Gillette in 2013? What about FSG at Fenway? I'm struggling to find a reason to attend a Revs game, but am Jonesing for some live ball these days. Gold Cup in CT in July is already on the schedule.
lol but it is a major event.... I don't think there is one for this year. http://www.aceticket.com/soccer-at-fenway-tickets/calendar/
Portuguese news outlets are reporting that the national team will face off against Brazil at Gillette Stadium on September 9th.
It's saying it would be Portugal vs. Brazil, I believe. Monday is an odd date for a friendly, though.
I thought the same exact thing but Portugal plays on September 6th against Northern Ireland and that's it. Brazil obviously doesn't have to play since they're the hosts. It makes perfect sense.
I think Monty's saying that Portugal would most likely have a qualifier at around the same time as the US. They play on the 6th against Northern Ireland, more than enough time to travel across the Atlantic to Boston to face off against Brazil whose schedule is open due to the fact that they're the hosts. Edit: Or he was just confused, just saw his post.
The Brazil-Portugal game has been confirmed on the Portuguese Federation's website. Strong immigrant communities in New England for both of these countries will make this game a can't miss for me (it doesn't hurt that I'm Portuguese). I know people are often critical of these friendlies but I'm pretty excited.
I don't think I'd ever try and do that ... knowing my luck, something would be wrong with the plane and they'd reschedule me and I'd miss the game. That's why I always fly out the day before.
Without a doubt. Brazil can sell out Gillette playing almost anybody, let alone Portugal. Should be a fun night.
This is gonna be epic. I've got friends and family who couldn't care less about the Revs, but they will be here for Portugal. Spain recently played here. Brazil and Portugal are coming. This only confirms that for the right amount of cash anyone will play on fake grass. Except Theirry Henry - he's a pussy.
Hope it's a great turnout and a lot of fun - those games usually are. It's sad so many people we (collectively) know love the game but don't care about the revs. Closed minded, but understandable.
What's sad is that the Brasil vs. Portugal match is tentatively scheduled for a MONDAY night! Get there early or don't get there at all.
As was pointed out, they'll put down grass, but you're right about Henry. And, since the RB match is coming up, he must already be working on planning the knock that will cause him to miss the trip.
It's not sad at all - it's actually a good business decision. They know it'll sell out if they played it at 3am on a Tuesday in a hurricane because this demographic will get to the game no matter what. Schedule it on a monday, leave your weekend open to schedule something else profitable, and still watch 68k show up and happily pay $40 to park.
OR it was scheduled for September 9th at the request of the participating teams so that the players could return to their club teams sooner. Not everything is a diabolical Kraft plan.
