We all know them as a championship winning soccer team from the early part of last century, but did you know that apart from scoring goals and winning a record number of US Open Cups that during WWII, Bethlehem Steel was also a major supplier of armor plate and ordnance to the U.S. armed forces, including armor plate and large-caliber guns for the Navy? Bethlehem Steel's high point came in the 1950s, as the company began manufacturing some 23 million tons per year while the steel industries in Japan and Germany were still devastated by the war. Business began to slow down after that, but thanks to the conflict in Vietnam, many believed that things would soon turn around. However that changed after Kennedy announced his intention to start taking troops out of South East Asia. Bethlehem Steel might have considered this an insult, not only because he was taking money from them, but also because his father, Joseph Kennedy was an assistant general manager for them during WWI. Seeing this as a direct betrayal, the powers that be had Kennedy shot, and tried to lay the blame on soccer playing communist countries, so that the war could continue. If only his father had been a Fall River Rovers fan instead, he might still be with us...

Kissinger had direct correspondence with Pele to try and bring him to the Cosmos and later smuggled him from Nigeria in 1975 during a military coup. Both Nixon and Kissinger had the means and motive to carry out an assassination planned by the directors of Bethlehem Steel. Nixon was also in Dallas the day Kennedy got shot, however he lied about it until pressed with evidence to the contrary.
IDK about that, but I do know that Reinhard Gehlen, senior intelligence officer in the Nazi army during WWII, became part of “South German Industrial Development Organization”, a shadow group that acted as an undercover operation and spy ring, and established an association with the Central Intelligence Agency. He retired from government service in 1968, receiving the pension allegedly, from the CIA, the same year that Kissinger was named the National Security Advisor by Nixon. Also, in a deathbed confession by former CIA agent E. Howard Hunt, he named Lucien Sarti as one of the men who shot at U.S. President John F. Kennedy in Dealy Plaza on the day of his assassination from the grassy knoll and hit the president in the head. Sarti was a drug trafficker and killer-for-hire involved in the infamous French Connection heroin network and was well connected to the Chicago Mafia. Angered by the fact that Harmarville Hurricanes defeated Chicago Schwaben in 1956, and that another team from Chicago would not win until the Chicago Fire did it in 1998, plus Kennedy's crack down on the mob, it made it easy for them to comply with the assassination plot. Hunt, along with Frank Sturgis, whom was born Frank Angelo Fiorini, were later indicted on federal charges for the Watergate scandal that forced Nixon to resign. Sturgis was rumored to have worked as a soldier of fortune or a contract agent for the Central Intelligence Agency. He also became involved in gunrunning to Cuba, met Castro in person and was believed to be involved in helping the CIA organize the Bay of Pigs invasion.
Let us not forget a few other important collaborators... Gerald Ford became President upon Richard Nixon's resignation on August 9, 1974. However, in 1963 when he was still with the House of Representatives, President Lyndon B. Johnson appointed Ford to the Warren Commission, a special task force set up to investigate the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. As a reward for covering up the conspiracy against Kennedy, Ford became the only President of the United States who was never elected President nor Vice-President by the Electoral College. Here President Ford is seen in a horrible suit, practicing his soccer skills as some Mafia thugs warn Pele about revealing any secrets. Another sinister character in the plot was Charles Felton Harrelson father of famed actor Woody Harrelson who gets many acting roles despite not having much talent. Charles Harrelson was a murder-for-hire killer that killed a federal judge and claimed to be one of the "Three Tramps" hiding in a box car on the railroad tracks behind Dealey Plaza just after the shooting. The identity of the three tramps however was later disclosed by the Dallas PD as being Harold Doyle, John Forrester Gedney, and Gus W. Abrams, although this information is highly suspicious given that Earle Cabell, was mayor of Dallas at the time of the assassination of John F. Kennedy and was the brother of Charles Cabell, who was Deputy Director of Central Intelligence until he was fired by Kennedy in the wake of the Bay of Pigs invasion. E. Cabell oversaw all activities relating to the motorcade and its chosen route through the city and down Elm Street. Bethlem steel was able to pay there players a lot of money. If I am right they were able to get some premier league players on their team. When I was in HS I was on the bowling team when when we heard Kennedy was shot and killed. Everyone just kept bowling like no one gave a shit.

I do know that after the 1924-25 American Soccer League season, in which Archie Stark scored 67 goals, Bethlehem Steel gave him a raise to $75 a week, making him the highest paid player in the league. There were some Scottish first-division players at Bethlehem. Alec Jackson, one of the Scottish "Wembley wizards" who beat England, 5-0, in 1928, had played one season for Bethlehem, but that was before he became a star in the Scottish national team and the English first division (at Hudderfield Town and Chelsea). ASL clubs particularly signed a lot of Scottish players in 1924, sometimes tripling the salary they had been making in Scotland, but part of the reason why they were able to do so was that wages for soccer players in Scotland were abysmally low at that time.
