It's our arch nemesis Germany again to day, 17.30 GTM in Cologne. Let's start as we mean to go on - 1-0 to The England!

Thanks for that. High scoring game. I don't see defence as being a problem at all - once they settle down and get organised.

It is a bit confusing from the link I gave. On the top, it says 4-3 for Germany but on the bottom 4-4. I dont know which one is true.

Edit : The 4-3 win for Germany is true. I checked in another site.

Arch nemesis indeed! England were leading 1:0, 2:1 and 3:2, but in the end Germany won 4:3. :cautious:

DFB.de says 4:3 for the hosts.

The English goalscorers in this game were Isaiah Brown in the 23rd min then Demetri Mitchell in the 43rd min and Adam Armstrong in the 62nd.

Some of the defending was pretty awful to say the least but some good play there too.

Interesting. I'm surprised it took as long as it did.

I've not said much about the recent England u16/17 squads. But one thing i will say is I am in total shock Lewis Cook from Leeds United is not part of them!! I travel country wide watching our future footballers and what I have seen of him is not short of fantastic..
I was at the Leeds reserves game against TNS (who played in the champions league) when this 15 year old lad came on and equalised. In some of the other games I have seen him in I am equally impressed. He is fast, strong and his vision is second to none!
After speaking to some of the Leeds coaches I'm told they had to sign him fast as the so called big 4 were showing way too much interest! He is now a regular with Leeds United U18's and is knocking on the door of the reserve team if not the first team! England need an all round midfield player that is fearless, scores goals, creates goals and can run from post to post. Don't miss out on this young man!

This group hasn't got going yet so I wouldn't make too much out of a friendly at this stage. For what it's worth there was a few players not involved that have played a year above.

Lewis Cook came on for the last 25 minutes in Leeds' defeat in the youth cup to a Jordon Ibe inspired Liverpool and scored a good goal. It was odd how he seemed unrecognisable from the player who turned out in midfied with RLC for the first game in the VS 16 months ago. Just a differnt style player.

I share your pain Lol but it was a good learning experience for our team and apart from the defending which was bad on the day our attacking play looked very good

There is an article in today's Sun about Isaiah Brown saying he's in the West Brom squad today (I just had a look and couldn't spot the link, to put up here)

Ref Cook in the VS... I remember watching this game (from my hotel room) and to me he held a very disciplined role. He nearly scored within the first minute and the replay showed a N.I player to get a slight touch, so should have been a corner. Then his hard work down the left wing, bouncing from the floor after a poor tackle set the first goal for England.
You say 'unrecognisable' I say 'versatile'. When he came on for Leeds in the YC he took over the right wing and did well, but if placed next to Mowatt in the middle of the park I think he could have caused major problems!
Ibe what can I say about this young man apart from class? But for me Dunn was the real deal and I can see him having a very long and successful career!

Has he been injured as often as I think over the past 16 months?
Perhaps surprisingly Jordan Rossiter and Tom Brewitt both played the full 90 minutes in the youth cup game against Leeds.

Not that much experimentation. Armstrong seems to be in every squad.

After a quick chat to some people in the know he has suffered some pulls, probably caused by growing! They say he seems to have come through it stronger!

There does seem a real dearth of strikers. I thought Giorgio Rasulo (MK Dons) was a bit of a striker but he's down with the midfielders. I know it's early days but I'll be interested to see how they go on in this - particularly the rematch with the Germans. Anyone know how the Germans went on against Italy the other day?
