Love the classy monochrome look, including the badge and sponsor, I think it will look awesome. I know plenty love the signal blue kit, but with the sponsor badge it's too garish for me. This is very different. Excited to see it now.
I am absolutely drawn by the nod to Bethlehem Steel. As a Lehigh Valley native, that is tough to ignore. Anyone know if replicas will be made available as well as authentics?
From the Union website they have posted this: For us front office types, it’s gearing up for tomorrow’s “Meet the Team” event at Xfinity Live! which kicks off at 7 p.m. and features the unveiling of not just our current team, but of our latest uniform design. The unveiling of the new third kit will be approximately at 7:35 p.m. and fans will be able to purchase it and more at the event. There will be players modeling the full kit, in addition to others wearing various related merchandise. I'd like to see some scarves designs and tees.
I do adore the way the Adidas replicas fit, hence my non-hesitation to sport any of my Bayern shirts.
True story. I lost 30 lbs so I can fit into a Flamengo shirt. I decided to go even further by dropping an extra 20 lbs. Never felt better in my life. Flamengo shirts are quite tight on the side, but it is an absolutely kick ass shirt.
Olympikus. I think it is a Brazilian sporting company. Flamengo is going to Adidas for the upcoming 2013 season.
Looking at the new releases for the other teams. My overall reaction was: meh. Houston went template-y with a generic look, deviating away from their graphic design on the home kit, which I liked for its uniqueness. Colorado's alternate shirt just screamed love it or hate it. I wasn't enthused with the shirt. Now, Toronto's home kit with the maple leaf/ kaleidoscopic shards was very nice. Let's hope that Union knocks this one out of the park tonight.
Every Bayern shirt I've ever bought have worn nicely....but wait aren't you the 1860 fan! Adidas replicas fit pretty well even for slightly blobular guys. I find Nike's replicas to be closer to the Adidas authentic cuts, but in the proper size (a large fits more like a large, not a smedium)
Not trying to rain on our own jersey release parade here but I saw someone put up Colorado's alternate but I don't know if anyone mentioned their primary which I thought did something really cool. At first it looked pretty plain but then when you look closer the stripes in the jersey are actually the names of every season ticket holder which is pretty cool imo. When I read they were doing that I didn't know how well it would work but it looks good to me. Just wonder how small the season ticket holder base has to be to pull that off. Bayern has a separate authentic as well. One of the current versions is even Tech-Fit. Robben tends to wear this one. I saw the full range in Munich last Spring and there were plenty of rather "stocky" Bavarians trolling around in the replicas instead.
I am not sure how prominent the BSFC logo will be in the overall scheme since it is supposed to be on the inside of the jersey and the back neck, based on the write-up on the Complex link. PHILADELPHIA UNION Philadelphia Union will debut a new third kit in 2013 that celebrates the history of soccer in the Philadelphia area. The retro-inspired uniform features a Bethlehem Steel FC logo under the Union crest on the inside of the jersey and the back neck. In addition, the Union crest is made of felt and embroidery, providing a vintage look and feel.
Agreed - I think that the Rapids have between 3,500 - 4,000 season tickets and 1,500 STH so the Union may have 5,000 or so STH for its 12,000 season tickets using the same sort of ticket/STH ratio. Philly would need a very small font and the jersey would be covered in names not like the 3 hoops of the Rapids' names.
