The season starts in 5 days. Are we ready? No we are not. Vancouver 3 TFC 1 (maybe) is the best I can guess. Where are the promised signings? Is this going to be another "wait till next year" season.

What's going on with Ephraim, nothing official yet? And now we're hearing Bostock. Lips sealed on Frings, somehow this is all classic TFC. Not really complaining, just saying.

I'm going to try and avoid making many judgments until we're on real grass on...week 4? well that sucks.

Yeah, this could get ugly. I expect Vancouver to put at least two past us. And even if we get reinforcements between now and then I don't think we're going to score.

With Hassili playing for them, we're likely done; he always seems to get the better of us.

Oh wait, Hassili's playing for us isn't he ...

I'm sure Mariner will pull out a win somehow ... what with Torsten and Cann in the back, and Johnson and Koevermans in front ...

Hang on ... whose this Ryan Nelsen guy? And Kevin Payne? I wonder if they have DeRo's phone number ...

My gosh, we better be getting a good discount on our tickets ... oh wait we are. I guess I'll just sit back and enjoy my Steam Whistle ...

Then it's a good thing TFC only plays the 'Caps once this season, outside of the Canadian Championship.

Okay.... Hassli is gone, Plata is gone, and now Frings is gone too. I don't even care about the outcome of this match, which seems to favor the Caps even more now, anymore. The depth of TFC needs to be fixed as soon as possible.

Which is why I stopped adding a poll to these threads. They were pretty much a foregone conclusion.

Payne suddenly has me wet with optimism from the presser today, based on possible Hondurans coming recommended by Guevara and an Argentine young-DP forward that Onstad is scouting.

Any word on the guy from QPR who was rumoured to be a lock?

Payne is very confident they'll have a loan agreement within 48H.

I hate to say it, but I'm getting deja-vu back to Mo's interviews, where he always talked about some anonymous foreign player we were about to sign (but seldom did).

Now, that's not saying anything negative about Payne. Mo was a used-car salesman, and always said the right thing. Hopefully Payne is the real deal, and we'll get somewhere.

Though Ephraim gives me pause, given he didn't make the cut in the second tier of English football, and hasn't played a full match since 2011 ... in League One.

That's why I'm glad it's a loan - hopefully he can work out in MLS - but I'll play wait and see for the Payne moves for now.

As for the game itself I'd like to see a clean sheet, but realistically I'm happy with a draw.

From what I'm reading about him on the other threads, sounds like he could cut it in second tier, just not first tier.
The way I see it, a quality tier 2 player in England is a pretty good player in MLS.

I don't know what the story is, but the stats suggest he couldn't perform in the third tier!

I really hope this works out ... or at least something works out. But my optimism is low ...

I feel like taking a crack at the lineup...

Based on gut instinct and what I've seen in preseason really, this is what I think they'll trot out. Don't necessarily agree with it, but I have a feeling we'll see those 11 starting
