Makes sense. I've always thought spector had the technical smoothness and tactical understanding of an elite world player but had the worst cutting agility anywhere. "No hip movement". He is very easy to get by and he takes big circles instead of. cutting on a dime. Regardless, his technical smoothness and tactical acumen could get him a nice job in Italy rather than playing into his negatives in the english style.

Looks like someone will be needed to do that, sooner or later. Why turn away anyone who wants to throw their hat in the ring? The more players we have trying to accomplish that, the better off the USNT will be.

Not sure about that. I don't think he ever had the athleticism to be a high level player. He's not bad though. Probably better to find a place for him on the field for USA than D Will.

I think no-one expects Lletget to step into Landon's role as the best/second best player on the team anytime soon. In fact, I don't think many Americans have ever seen Lletget play in any form, so there's definitely no clamoring for him to replace LD.

Well he's a few years too late, and kind of the wrong position, but Lletget was getting serious attention in the youth ranks for a few years. If the writer hadn't kept up, it's a reasonable thing to say from a few years ago.

I think Lletget was more being tipped to be the next (first?)great US "#10"/"CAM" who will lead us to the promised land.

Yes that is why I said the position is wrong, but the concept isn't. He was expected by some to be great.

I saw him on one of the USA youth teams a couple years ago. Looked like he knew what to do when he received the ball, which is more than can be said for most of our midfielders. I haven't seen him play enough to have any real opinion, but based on the small sample size and our need at the position, I still think he has a future with USMNT.

If lletget is playing in spain or Italy. He is playing for the first team by now. Not Your type of coach at west ham for skilled young player like lletget to break through.

He's is definaitely more technically advanced than most at WH from what I've read and I agree his style of play isn't direct enough for WH

That was my story and I think he is seriously under rated even by our own manager. Seb is very versatile and can play throughout the midfield for us and when he gets the chance you will finally see just how good he is and will replace Donovan mark my words.

Can anyone tell me what position he plays for the US?

Thanks for your input, TheBoleynInheritance, and welcome to BigSoccer.

Do you get to view many of Lletget's games with the developmental squad? Any reports you could give us here would be much appreciated.

He's a CAM, but we don't get to see him much so, despite all the hype here, there aren't many on this forum who can tell you anything that you don't already know (about Sebbie, anyway).

Actually you guys can. Like I said I don't get to see him play for the US and I was wondering how he is doing for them? He has progressively improved so much so he has finally earned a professional contract. I'd like to see him go out on loan preferably in the Championship over here where he will learn a thing or two I can tell you.

Good old fashioned football has been lost in the PL but is still live and kicking in the Championship.

He hasn't really played for the US outside of a handful of games for the U-20 team two years back. At that time he played as a #8 in a 4-3-3 system, a two-way midfielder linking defense and attack. He showed well -- good on the ball, good vision, made good decisions, some questions about his pace. That's really the last time we've seen him.

Can you give us a description of his role with the West Ham U-21s and how he has looked lately?
