St. Malo is near Mont Saint Michel, I think... that place is pretty cool! It's an old style castle/walled town that looks probably not too different than it did in the Middle Ages. It used to be an island before they build a causeway, and you could walk out there at low tide. They would graze the sheep in the grass that would grow in between, and supposdedly it was a delicacy that people said was the best-tasting lamb anywhere.[/quote]

 

The trick is that they have the lambs graze on wild thyme. And yes, it is supposed to be the best lamb anywhere.

So it got me wondering, how are the Revs in this respect? How much support do the Revs give new signings whether they are local domestic, out of state domestic or international signings?​

US nationals would probably be better placed to handle the transition but international signings would generally have more trouble. Even worse if they don't speak English at all or fluently.​

I appreciate that MLS has limited funds so i'd imagine they wouldn't be able to provide massive support to players in off field issues but it's definitely in the team's interest to help them get settled as fast as possible in order to concentrate fully on playing.​

Don't confuse Stephen Colbert's character (fits the mold of soccer-hater) with Stephen Colbert. Though it could be true for both. We'll never know.

Ya, Colbert's schtick is to come off as a hater or a boor on any number of subjects. I think he actually does a service by -in a round about way- exposing ignorance and bigotry through character playing. He's actually brilliant and probably does respect Soccer. Alexi shouldn't have been a boob by going for the bait.

 

Seriously, I remember when a lot of not-so-bright-bulbs on the tree would get all riled up, agreeing with Colbert, not realizing that he is a comedian who plays a particular character, kind of like Larry the Cable guy, who is realy a college graduate from Nebraska, and not a Southern redneck hick.

 

I actually think Alexi did know that..and he was just being the Soccer Intellect guy to the antics! I for one, have always been able to pick up the true basher, the real hater who, to get an audience to be on his side, makes a derogatory remark about soccer to boost his ego and the fact that his penis is no bigger than his intelligence..! People like Lupica, Rome, and Most if not ALL the So called Sports Journalists who call BAHSTON their home base! =)

PS: Where does that "Bahston" thing come from anyway? Drives me nuts. Most people I know from here, including myself, drop the O right down like a rock. "Bwostin". I would think Bahstin is the way a midwesterner would say it.

I was randomly watching Wigan-Reading this morning and continue to be impressed with the Honduran int'l Maynor Figueroa. I looked it up and his contract expires at the end of June, and he is 29. Kind of early to be talking summer transfers, I know, but he is a prime age to come to MLS as the revs' DP left back or left footed CB to partner Farrell. He has also played LM for Wigan so we would have some versatility on the left.

Figueroa would really solidify our back line and add leadership and experience and I know the revs were interested in him back in 2007 when he was at Olimpico. Plus, as a fellow Honduran, Bengtson may benefit. Food for thought.

 

Figueroa will get one more European payday. He has been too good. He would certainly be a good addition, but I think he will likely stay in Europe for at least 2-3 more seasons.

 

You guys excited for Jersey Week? I'm sure the Revs will be unveiling a thoughtful and dynamic new design. Not.
