There isn't ONE player out there that is a better fit than Ruiz? Are we naive enough to think he is the last piece of the puzzle? We might as well have picked up Freddy Montero.

 

This is a great move. I see a future sponsorship deal with Hooters just around the corner.

 

We already have a solid corps of young players on the team. That's been a strength of this team for a few years now.

I don't have a huge problem with Ruiz. He's a cheater, sure, but it's a different mentality than we're used to, it's trying to get an edge any which way, and that's not uncommon in the rest of the world.

What I don't like is the desperation. United has now basically admitted they didn't do enough in the offseason to procure goal scorers, so they are now relegated to hoping Ruiz' old ass can scrape something together. I know, Hamdi's contract, blah blah blah, but this is weak. United is perenially outperformed by the FO's of the majority of MLS franchises. Fact.

I hate that we picked him up but I hate that that hate will be tempered if he scores a bunch of goals for us (not that I think he will). I feel gross just thinking about it.

Love this move. People complain about the lack of goalscorers on the team, and we go out and get one of the best in MLS history. I will always remember a goal he scored where he could have gone down after a defender hacked at him in the box and he just got back up and powered a shot into the goal anyway. His tenacity is what intrigues me the most; his nose for goal is exactly what the team needs.

 

His first day of training all the DC United players should wear "Clark 13" jerseys just to mess with the little fish.

 

He didn't even come on a trial first. How do you just sign a guy that has played only a couple NT games in ten months.

I have always hated Ricardo Clark. He's a talentless assclown that dicked the US in the last WC and deserves to fade away. Getting him would have pissed me off beyond words.

 

By that reasoning, let's bring Jaime Moreno back -- he's one of the best in MLS history, after all.
