Here is where most people freak out and other say "well at least he can score goals." GO http://www.dcunited.com/news/2013/0...al-carlos-ruiz-via-the-mls-allocation-process
OMG, this is awful! I'm gonna burn all my team gear! But hey, at least he can score goals. We need this. Great signing by the FO!
I hope he dies before he soils the shirt. Not kidding. (Come to think of it, I've been praying for his death for ever.)
I thought DCU learned their lesson about divers with CD9. And I"m going to stop there because the profanity filter will just kick me.
Wow. Take a hardworking, play for each other, tough but clean team and you add THIS to it? What in God's name are they thinking? If he came to play for free I don't get it. I've never said this about a guy poised to wear our shirt, but honestly -- ick.
I'm probably in the minority, but I like it. Wildly entertaining player. Still capable of scoring outrageous goals. Will probably arrive at camp weighing a cool 250 lbs.
He fits Olsen's system perfectly - he's basically the rich man's Pajoy we've all been waiting for. I get it. Still, it's Carlos f'ing Ruiz. I'd rather it be anyone else. I'm ill.
Do you ever actually contribute a comment here that isn't completely inane? I, for one, approve of Ruiz on United.
I can't believe it. I cannot believe it. Putting aside the fact that he's disgusting and awful, he is old and hasn't played for anyone in over a year. WTF. NO, SERIOUSLY, WTF?
Did you see the goal he scored against the US in October? He can still play. Dammit, beaten to the punch!
What's the part of her post you think was inane? Her suggestion that CD9 was a diver? (he was) Her suggestion that DCU might have had a lesson to learn when it came to Davies? (I think there was one, but reasonable people can disagree) Or her hope that DCU might have learned something? (yeah, that's probably it)
We're trying to make a global brand here guys, this is the guy who will make us popular in Guatemala right. I mean, we have like a hundred or perhaps 120 Guatemalan fans, right? We can blow that up to 140. Then again he's scored 1 goal in every 2 games at least for every team he's played for and still has it. I love playing both sides of the field. (sexually) (just kidding) (or am I) (yes I am)
Judging by the fairly large numbers of Guatemalan fans that would turn out to the freaking soccerplex whenever we'd play FCD in USOC play back around 2005, I wouldn't be surprised if it put some butts in seats. I don't care.
I can't wait to hear Ben's quotes on this one. Maybe he just wanted to kick Ruiz one more time and had to get him here some way. I've no idea what kind of shape he's in, but the Ruiz who played against the US in October seemed more dangerous than any forward currently on our roster.
I've certainly been angrier about stuff having to with DCU (like during the Jersey playoff fiasco several months ago); but I honestly can't think of a time I've been more bummed out by something involving DCU. Getting knocked out of the playoffs by Chicago with a 4-0 scoreline with two red cards, one for Gomez spitting, did not feel as bad as I feel right now. Realizing the level of futility records we were going to set in 2010 did not feel as bad as I feel right now.
