This thread is the place to discuss Mexico, Canada, Nicaragua and whoever else that isn't really directly related to the US team.

Please keep in mind that many Mexican posters do tend to stop by these threads in the past. Sometimes just the fact that someone cheers for another team tends to get some posters riled up, but just because they disagree with your opinion doesn't mean they are trolling. Fair warning.

In the other match today, Cuba beat Canada 2-1.

Bit of a surprise I would think, but nice job Cuba either way.

I actually really enjoy the Mexico fans that come on the YNT forum. Always nice to get an outsider perspective on our team and some insight on theirs.

Very much a surprise. Didn't Canada beat us in the Marbella Cup or something?

Off topic, but look, Okwuonu at RB, Torre at LB  . And it looks like the second half of that game had 9 of the 11 starters from last night, all but Cropper and Trapp.

This is why we can't scream bloody murder too much about the US game.

A win is a win is a win.

    We got the job done.

Canada's now for all intents and purposes in a must-win situation against Nicaragua. Another complete mystery team just like Cuba (and Haiti for that matter).

The US has pretty much locked up a quarters place (unless Haiti beats Costa Rica). So Tab can rotate his squad a bit for the next game to try some other players. There's no point now saying "we need to beat Costa Rica in order to avoid Canada."

    1) Winning our group may set up a meeting with Canada
    2) Is Canada really worth avoiding?

So we should try out some new players in our lineup (Ocegueda, Miller, Lopez, etc) and go out there to beat Costa Rica. Let the chips fall where they may from there.

Yup. There's really no point in scoreboard watching Group B any more.

Just try to win our games and play whoever shows up at the field that day.

The official CONCACAF U20 page is here ...

    http://www.concacaf.com/page/Under20s/Home/0,,12813,00.html

The qualifying group games are structured AvB, BvC, AvC - with the US, Canada, Mexico and Jamaica in the desirable "A" position (with B and C teams having to play back-to-back matches on short rest).

Today we have Puerto Rico v Jamaica and Mexico v Curacao.

Highlights also on that page, including Cuba-Canada.

Based solely on highlights -- always a perilous form of analysis -- Cuba brought their finishing boots, and Canada didn't.

Honestly, this is probably what the actual U20 team would've done anyway. The only ones trying to figure out the favorable match scenarios were the fans.

Not necessarily. The CONCACAF team in Pot 1 will draw a CONMEBOL team no matter what. If we're in Pot 3, we could possibly get New Zealand from Pot 1 and draw Iraq from Pot 2.

Regardless, outside of advancing to the U20 WC, winning the CONCACAF U20 should be the goal, and the draw will play itself out.

Ref ruined a good pass and move possession from Curacao, leads to a Mexican counter.

Not trying to troll, but what's with Mexicans and their overhead kicks while trying to attempt a cross or corner? Do they not know they can use their head?

Mexico looking good early on still 0-0. Corona is pretty good. Dual nationals Sanchez and Luna starting.

Curaçao has to be the worst team in this tournament. They lost to Puerto Rico...the same Puerto Rico that looked absolutely lost against Jamaica.
