Hello. I have been a Bayern Munich fan since I was able to watch highlights of their games in the late 70's/early 80's here in the US. This season, I have been especially happy watching the goal celebrations of the team. They seem to all enjoy and celebrate every goal. Do you feel the same watching the game in the Stadium or locally in Germany? My biggest question is in regards to the home announcer after a goal is scored. I don't speak/understand spoken German, so I can't really follow along with the fans' celebration following a goal. I'm hoping one of my fellow Bayern fans who either go to games or watch on TV and understand German can help me. After a goal is scored, it seems the announcer gives the standard info about the goal (time of game, etc). Then, he says the first name of the goal scorer and the crowd replies with the last name (I love this tradition). Next, he says a few words, then the crowd replies something, then he says something else, the crowd replies, and he says Danke (I think this means Thank You) and the crowd roars a reply. Can one of you please let me know the translation of the celebration between announcer/fans? I really appreciate it. Also, for all of you who get to go to see these games in person, know that you are truely blessed and there are literally millions of Bayern fans who would love to see them play just once in person (I WILL make it to one game before I pass from this world, I promise). Thanks in advance. Tom (from Maryland, USA)
There's a loose translation of the whole announcement on this site. Scorer -- Score (Bayern/Opponent) -- Thanks
Quick note: Usually the crowd will say the opponent has a score of "zero" (null), regardless of their actual score
Original: neuer Spielstand in der Allianz Arena.......FC BAYERN.......4........Schalke04........NUL...............Danke.............Bitte!!!!!!!!! New score in the Allianz Arena...........
So sad they abandoned this goal hymn after we moved into the Allianz Arena... That's the heartbeat of the Olympia Stadium and I'll never forget it...
Thank you all so much for the help. This will really make the goal celebrations more enjoyable for me.
I think its neat how practically each German team has their own little thing for goals Getting off topic, this was the perfect goal song for Bayern if you ask me. Every time I hear it, it screams "Bavaria" to me
Sure that's a fine hymn, too. However...Can Can above was ideal for swinging around your FC Bayern München scarf with the rest of the 20'000 SÜDKURVE fans...aah what a time when I studied in Munich ... *sigh*...too short...too long ago...
That is the perfect goal song. But for some reason I also like this one, which was played incessantly a few seasons ago.
For a minute there, I thought you were looking for tickets judging from your thread title. You haven't lived until you've witnessed the goal celebration in person. It's like heaven opens up and God starts talking. Only in Bayern
