Centennial - Colorado is the Centennial State (since it was admitted in 1876)
    38 - Colorado was the 38th state

That said, yeah, I'm not thrilled. It is what it is though. Good to have all the groups united.

I mean I get it and it is great that the groups are unified but this is just terrible. The home opener is still a few weeks away. New vote lol?

Agreed that it is good to have the groups united but I have lived in Colorado for 30 years and didn't know the 38th state fact. Seems a rather esoteric name, but "C38" rolls off the tongue well.

C38 sounds like a bra size.

All the more fitting for a group whose purpose is support.

BTW, other things C38 or C-38 refers to:

Air Force designation for the Gulfstream 100

    A Michigan highway

The military designation for the DC-2 (the smaller version of the famous DC-3)

HMS C38, a British C class sub in the 1910s

    The Canadian Civil Marriage Act

    King's Gambit move in chess

C-38 canal, a straightened part of the Kissimmee River in Florida

C38 class steam locomotive used by the New South Wales railways

The ICD-10 code for heart cancer

There's no doubt about it . . . this name sucks. Nobody knows that Colorado is the 38th state. Nobody knows who was the 38th person to achieve transatlantic flight.

Couldn't y'all at least have gone with 38 Centennial, and used .38 Special as your WWE-style walk-in music?

The old saying, if everyone is unhappy, it must be a good compromise?

    Is not without it's flaws.

Mile High was considered too associated with the Broncos (a feeling I can't disagree with). 5280 was too Denver when the goal was to appeal to fans of the Colorado Rapids across the state of Colorado. Queen City options were dropped for the same reason, plus there are many otherr cities considered the Queen City (Seattle was the Queen City for 100 years, going back to before Denver, before they changed to Emerald City in 1982).

Personally I would have gone back to/taken inspiration from River Ratz.

Everyone had an ample opportunity to vote, so if you didn't, that's on you. If you did, sorry your's wasn't most popular. For me, I like it. Can't make everyone happy so gotta forge ahead with a name most voted for nonetheless. Centennial 38 it is!

As I understand it, the vote wasn't used to select the name. Did they ever release the final vote tally?

It wasn't my choice, but I don't have any issues with it. I wasn't really excited about any of the final options, so I was bound to be disappointed. I wasn't a member of Class VI, but I would have been okay if the groups would have picked that as the name.

That said, I think the choice has staying power. Centennial 38, C-38, Centennials, 38s, etc. It will grow on us eventually.

This would mean something if the votes were used to determine the winner.

I don't have any info one way or another, although whether the votes we're the ultimate determinant or not, I don't see how they couldn't have been influential in the final decision-making. Anyhow, like it or not, we've got one super-supporters group now, which makes ton of sense and will allow our most fervent fans an opportunity to pool resources into some great gameday support.

I'm OK with this name. Could there be a better name? Maybe, but I fail to think of something better personally. My biggest fear of this change is that some in the group will hang onto there old name and ways like this merger never happened, which I feel is no good. The good by far outweighs the bad here, I'm glad we don't have to have arguments about tailgates and tifo. No more figuring out how to coordinate chants in the terrace. All of our previous groups brought something great to the table and I'm looking forward to having all of those resources in one central group. Looking forward to everything about this season.

I still haven't received a solid answer on this question:

What is going to happen to Class VI? I know there will still be a SG in 108, but are they the C38s or are they Class VI?

Class VI, Pid Army, and the Bulldog Supporters Group have merged into one organization this offseason, now called Centennial 38.
