I guess I just recall our offense breaking down on its own well before jozy was even a factor. Now perhaps one could chalk it up to off the ball movement but jozy, ej and deuce seemed to rotate around a bit and there didn't seem to be clear, distinct roles. So I'm no inclined to hang that on jozy coupled with the fact that he time and again provided good pressure and defense in our defensive third. U like herc and get the arguments for Starting him. I just don't think it mattered much today. Our issues were elsewhere....seemingly everywhere else.
Yes. The conditions dictated the match. That said, the subs came too early, a couple of them (particularly subbing EJ off) where questionable, and the timing of them seemed naive at best. And it bears repeating that maybe relying on a bunch of German-Americans who aren't all that used to CONCACAF play and these sorts of conditions at the same time might not always be a good strategy.
Someone mentioned using guys like Castillo, and others who are more from the concacaf region could of helped... makes me think...
I can't think of a single non-obvious decision that Jurgen made that worked. I sincerely can't. The worst decision was probably burning 3 subs by the 67th minute. The most costly was that he didn't yank out Chandler when it was obvious he was outclassed. Bradley yanked Clark against Ghana and was rewarded by getting to extra time. But really, from soup to nuts, this was a coaching performance for the ages. And not in a good way.

forget CONCACAF opponents, just being able to jog in warm weather would have been welcome. Most of the English and German players just melted.
Domenech is the very last guy I'd want to coach this team. Including Steve Sampson, the ghost of Glenn Myernick, and Eric Wynalda.

Here's the thing about Chandler. According to the whiteboard that was posted shortly before the game, this is how this lineup was drawn up: -----------------------Howard------------------------ Chandler-----Gonzalez--Cameron----F.Johnson -----------------------Williams------------------------ ----------------Jones-------Bradley------------------ ---------------------------------------------E.Johnson -------------------Dempsey--------------------------- -----------------------Altidore------------------------ Which means Klinsmann was apparently expecting Chandler to assume a lot of responsibility down that right flank, both offensively and defensively-- although the whiteboard also showed arrows indicating Jones would help out on the right, I'm not sure how much that happened. He obviously looked bad, independent of that, but I do wonder if throwing all of that onto him in his first competitive cap had some effect on his play there.
I don't like JK's answers to the goals each and every game "we made mistakes." Yeah, no shit. As coach fix the problem. Oh, and today again, 2 shots on goal. I am not sure if that is an improvement over Canada.
Sometimes (most of the time in the first hour) when we were attacking, we were going at them with all the urgency of a hockey team on the penalty kill when they break into the attacking zone 1v3. I put that on the coach, because he's been emphasizing playing like Spain, playing with the ball. He seems to demand two touches...not 1, not 3 (or God forbid 4), but two.
