There needs to be adjustments. Team USA is getting skinned in the midfield, and is only hanging on due to poor finishing from Los Catrachos.
I do find it funny how different some of us view the game. I think Gonzo looks composed back there. Had 1 or 2 slip ups, but not bad. One of his bad passes came from a very lazy pass from Danny Williams. Jones can't say he looks bad, but he and the rest of the Germans look gassed. Williams, Chandler, and F Johnson have been fairly hard to watch
On the goal, I thought GONZ should have stayed with the man going after the ball rather than force our fullback that was guarding the post to take him, he was way back for the coverage, gave the forward all the time in the world to cross.
Good: Jozy, Dempsey, Bradley (had some nice balls, weird clearance that Chandler fcked up after), Cameron (best player IMO), Howard (saved everything he could), EJ (nice tracking back and been in good positions) Meh: JJ (assist bumps him up from bad, seems lazy on tracking back/closing down, had decent ideas though going forward), Gonzalez (looks slow, but we knew this), Williams (haven't heard his name much, so probably a good thing a DM) Bad: Chandler (looks slow, disinterested), Fab (few bonehead mistakes, still think he's a better LM, but we have no other LB's),
Yeah, there was a lot of bad, but I don't think this is Mikey's best outing in the shirt. Seems to be trying to play calm and instead is playing casual.
Being selected consistently doesn't mean he's been one of the best players, Zeman liked him. De Rossi has a problem with motivation and he's been in bad form. That doesn't mean Bradley has been bossing anything. Sometimes it seems like he can barely complete a 5 yard pass. Not a single Roma fan would claim that he's one of our best players. I was a Bradley supporter but he's been average.
No, I was watching the game...I know way better than to rely on posts in threads like this where the highest level of soccer people have seemingly played is JV, zero conceptual grasp of the variables...haha
Pretty typical match in Central America. Tough, no flow, loud, and less than ideal conditions. I'll take a draw but feel like the match can be won. Two great goals.
This. Not sure why Gonzo dropped off, you only do that when there's a defender with you. Otherwise you MUST draw yourself out and challenge the ball so they can't get a cross off.
Agreed, he ran away from the guy with the ball (what kind of defender does this?) so he could get back in the box, thus letting the cross come in with NO pressure, and a goal ensued.
Dero is upset: @dwaynederosario: Very sad! #USMNT playing an important #WorldCup qualifier & none of the major sports networks showing the game.Norespect for the worlds game
Our whole team seems really impacted by the climate. They all looked exhausted about 10 minutes in. Worries me about the second half.
Ugh. Chandler needs to just boot the ball to the sideline in that situation. He got victimized and gave up the corner that led to the goal.
I don't know what game you guys are watching, but I thought that Gonzalez settled down well after the first 20 minutes or so. He looked bad early on, but he has settled into the game. Chandler just looks absolutely gassed. I wouldn't be surprised to see Parkhurst in the second half. Williams on the other hand just looks really poor, maybe this is why he is no longer starting for his club team.
Patience. They are running more. The last 10 minutes is when the USA can snatch a win, if they have failed to score in the siege that is about to come, for the first 20 mintes of the second half. If the team survives that, there is a slight hope of a win.
Bradly has not looked good and just because dempsey scored a goal doesn't excuse his overall mediocre performance.
