Does anyone know when we are going to see it? I think last year they released images in January. The season is what 3.5 weeks away? Seems a bit late or am I wrong? Any leaked photos or designs I missed?
you mean nothing has been released or we aren't having new jerseys this year? On the MLS store website it only says 2012 jersey, usually when its multiple years it will say 2012-2013 or something.
They put out new jerseys every two years, we got our new ones last winter. No, there is no 3rd jersey.
Why is that we can't get a third jersey (Chicago flag)? Is it us or adidas that dosen't want it to happen?
Can you copyright a jersey? If so just have a light blue jersey, with the Quaker logo ( would fit and look better without the four stars).
Bunge why doesn't S8 come out with a flag jersey of their own? I know Lotto has a design page -http://www.lottoteamsport.com/custom.php where they'll produce custom designs if you order 15. I'm sure there are others. I ripped this profile pic off google, I've been searching for this jersey for years and can never find it on ebay. Sometimes I'll see one guy at TP with it on and if he was my size I'd offer him cash on the spot (but doubt he'd give it up). I think there would be a market for a S8 flag jersey. Has it ever been considered?
Considered? It's been done in small batches. There are a number of problems with shirts and jerseys though. Economies of scale are difficult to get right without a huge investment from someone willing to risk cash. Even if you get the money to buy enough to have them made with quality and quantity you have to store them somewhere, and if you're talking about 500 jerseys that's needs a lot of space. The quality of the "knock-offs" hasn't always been the best so you have to be careful about that. People will actually buy sub-par quality but they won't pay full price. If you buy enough you can get quality at a price that would undercut the price of a small run of sub-par knock-offs. It's also not like a one-size-fits-all scarf. If you get 500, you have to be very careful about sizes or you end up with overstock you can't sell. Get 100 small knock-offs that end up of poor quality and you just got ********ed by Carlos Ruiz. All that said the contact I used for certain "mega" has projects told me he can get jerseys made. I imagine it would be a $10K+ investment, though that's just a hunch. If anyone here wants to risk $10K+ I'll work with you!
Very cool thanks for the info. How about something like Kickstarter? If you can get some really nice mock ups designs of a jersey and put the donations at $50 and if you get 200 people willing to donate then you can make your run. I'm sure you've guys thought of something similar, I've just been dying for one. And I always see on the message boards some absolutely stunning mock ups that I would pay for in a second.
As long as Andrew Hauptman owns the Fire, you will never see a new Chicago Flag jersey... Unfortunate that ego gets so far in the way of a good idea, no matter who's it was. Ego is Andrew in a nutshell.
Pretty sure we'd get a 3rd jersey if we qualify for the CCL (I believe most MLS teams that have a 3rd have done it for that reason), but I don't see it happening otherwise. Also, wasn't Hauptman's reason for changing the away jerseys to dark blue that it was a "tougher" or "more intimidating" color than white? That doesn't bode well for light blue.
It's not like we are asking for a pink jersey, light blue is the color of the Chicago flag and it's not like we will be wearing them for all the games. It would be by far the BEST jersey in the league.
Everything they wear now is dark blue, I would be pleasantly surprised with a mostly red home jersey next year.

By far the best jersey the league has ever had..... It would be a shame that we don't get this jersey as our secondary jersey or the very least our 3rd jersey (US Open Cup, friendly games, etc).
