Tickets and hotel are booked (much to the chagrin of the overlord)! I'll be there for the Zenit game - hopefully to see us progress in the Europa League - and for a couple of days thereafter.

I'll do my best to keep you all up to date on the hijinx (with pics) - but in the interim - give me some ideas on fun stuff to do in Liverpool apart from the normal stuff. I will be staying in City Centre (curently at the Crowne Plaza - might switch to the Hilton or Marriott) if that helps.

(Big shout out to Scholesy of course - as it's his awesome offer that got me motivated to do this)

Nice. I did a trip over this summer (I was there for London and did the tourist bit). I stayed at a Best Western as that's what I've got a deal with. Nice city. Did a few museums.

Well you could take the museum tour at Anfield. The Magical Mystery Tour of Beatles spots. The Anglican Cathedral is amazing. Take a ferry cross the Mersey. Visit the Tate Museum at the Albert Dock.

Scholesy has also agreed to give me ticks. Until he confirms everything I am "fingers crossed" making a one day trip to Liverpool.
I have done a stadium tour previously, so all I want to watch is the team play.
Newterp-we need to make a group of our own and exchange numbers/photos/real names so that we all know each other.
Later we can take a group photo and make everyone jealous

Beatles Tour is an absolute must for me - I plan on being out and about as much as possible to take in the sights and sounds. The hotel is essentially next to the Docks which I hear have been renovated and are very nice.

I think I'm most excited that I get to do this trip on my own (i.e. without wife and kids) - because I can do what I want, when I want and really enjoy it to the fullest.

    Excellent, keep the story coming.

You won't (Prolly) find a photo of me at the Beatles Museum, but I knew them all from when they came back from the Star Club, Hamburg. Worked as a bouncer, first at the Litherland Town Hall and other places they had bookings with the first month of them coming back.
Yeh, yeh, I know, you've heard it all before.

The museum and stadium tour at Anfield is a must if you can. They usually don't do it on game days. But you get the museum, a walk in from the car park on the Main Stand side, into the Liverpool dressing room that has the kit set up like it would be when the players enter, you get to stand where they do interviews, then walk down the steps and touch the This is Anfield sign, take pictures sitting where Brendan does and then walk over to the Kop and out. The last time I was there a guy from Dublin took his partner up on the Kop and proposed. She accepted and told us all the engagement was great but she was more excited about standing on the Kop. :)

They also let us sit where they do the pregame interviews at Anfield. We even had a guy take some questions on transfers like he was Brendan over the summer. Said he was buying Messi.

The Anfield tour is great. i ate in the boot room afterwards, which is pricey, but was kinda cool as well. I spent a lot of time in the Museum.

Similar deal with us - we did a tour of Anfield and the Kop and the part of the tour my fiancee enjoyed the most was seeing the Directors Box seat where Beyonce once sat.

Don't forget to pre-book your ground tour tickets- don't show up and expect to get in. ;)

They run the Beatles tour from the Albert Dock area. Or they used to. They changed the old sandstone warehouse there into nice apartments.
When I'd visit home I'd take my old mum to the Albert dock museum, she loved to wander around and have lunch in the cafe there. But then she was 90 and you're what, 19? :)

Yeah - I can't wait. The history of the city is pretty amazing too - so I'm going to try to catch as much of the sights as well as the LFC experience.

Make sure you find Mathew Street and just wander around, the cavern isn't the real thing, but just the record shops, clubs and the general vibe walking around is cool.

Definitely do the Ferry and I enjoyed the Maritime Museum and Slavery Museum (they are together).

In 2011 a new Museum of Liverpool opened. Supposed to be good.

I will be there after the season ends -- so my jealousy is hidden :)
