Talking points for every game from all 6 teams in the hex The fourth round will see the three group winners and three runners-up from the third round compete in a double round robin, including a home and away match against the other five teams between 6 February and 15 October 2013. The round is informally referred to as the 'Hexagonal' or just 'The Hex'.[9] The draw for the hex was conducted by FIFA on 7 November 2012. [10] The top three teams will qualify directly for the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals, while the fourth-placed team will play a home-away series against the winner of Oceania. Teams are ranked first by total points in all games, then, if tied, by best goal differential in all games, then by total goals in all games. If still tied, the same criteria are applied to games among the tied teams Costa Rica Honduras Jamaica Mexico Panama United States -------------------------------------------------------------------- LET THE GAMES BEGIN: February 6th - 2013. Honduras v United States - 4:00 pm EST Panama v Costa Rica - 9:00 pm EST Mexico v Jamaica - 9:30 pm EST
Anything other than a win for the USA and they will have done worse than their win at Honduras in October 2005. If the USA had lost that game, they would have clinched qualification with Jonathan Bornstein's goal at the end of the last Hexagonal game against Costa Rica, and in that case USA fans would have spent time worrying about the interconfederational playoff. With four of the six countries being the same, 12 of the 30 Hexagonal games will be the same as last time. You should have cited Wikipedia that you used. June is going to be crazy. There's an epic 3 consecutive rounds within 11 days of each other (Mexico and Jamaica need to play 3 matches in 7 days because of scheduling conflicts with the Confederations Cup). Getting ahead of myself though. All 3 matches in this round seem interesting, but that might be the case for all matches this year, given that this hex seems like the most balanced ever.
How many of the Honduras players that were at the Olympics are going to be called up for the U.S game?
Jose Mendoza (goalkeeper, but I'm expecting Noel Valladares to play) Arnold Peralta (midfielder according to one website and defender according to another website) Maynor Figueroa (defender) Luis Garrido (midfielder) Roger Espinoza (midfielder) Alexander Lopez (midfielder) Andy Najar (midfielder, I read he is injured) Mario Martinez (midfielder) Jerry Bengtson (forward)
Costa Rica vs Panama is a good rivalry as well. All the games look really fun to tell you the true I'm try to see them all.
Its going to be interesting thats for sure. Im just glad i can comfortably watch every game on television.

Thank goodness for beIN sports. Or else the Panama vs. Costa Rica match would definitely cost me something like $30 to watch.
Top to bottom, I think this is the highest quality Hex we've had in a while. Mexico is flexing it's muscle as a global power (Olympic Title, U17 World Cup) and has regained the CONCACAF crown from the USA with the 4-2 Gold Cup win coming from 2-0 down. USA. Can the USA close the gap with Mexico? What will we do w/out Landon? Will he come back? CB handoff/depth is the big issue. Honduras. Great combo of speed, athleticism, and skill on the ball. Deeper than last time, when injuries really hurt them at the WC. Jamaica. Nice to see the Reggae Boyz back. Issue with their Federation, but still nice to see them back. They SHOULD be the dominant Caribbean team. Costa Rica. Probably not at their 2002 peak level, but still good enough to win Copa Centroamerica with a young team. Panama. Like Honduras, big and athletic. Tough to break down. Only team in the Hex who hasn't even made the WC. Could easily see any team in the top 4. No way Mexico doesn't make it. USA also a good bet for a top 4 spot. Also, let's not count our chickens regarding beating NZ in the play-in. After all, no one beat them at the WC, either. Good luck to all. Honduras-USA is the match of the round for me.
Very surprised how both teams are playing - very boring. EDIT: Golazo de Honduras. Sill was expecting more from this game.
Panama and Costa Rica draw at 2-2 in Panama City. Panama started out well going up 2-0 but in all reality after that goal by CR in the late first half they dominated a lot of the game and took the team and crowd out of the game. Then Ruiz with a Chilena drew it off poor defense by us. Also can Saborio please stop killing us! My Costa Rican side of the family is already hitting me up lol Good game though los Ticos are the happier of the two squads!
Well, interesting day, to say the least. Overall poor play but 2 fantastic goals in Hondruas' home win over the USA after going a goal down. Costa Rica comes from 0-2 down to tie Panama on the road. And Jamaica get a point in Azteca in a game they really should have won, blowing a tap in from 6 yards with the GK out of position and a couple 1 v. 1s. This is gonna be interesting.
This is going to be interesting I was expecting US to Lose , Costa Rica to win and Mexico to win as well . On the other hand I agree on the part that every game today was a bit boring.
Honduras looked good at home, big 3 points for them, next they get Mexico at home. USA looked bad defending, Gonzo WTF, Really needs a win @ home vs Costa Rica. Panama up 2 - 0 they let CR come back and lose 2 very important points. Costa Rica, nice comeback they grab a very important point away, if they can do the same vs the USA they may become the favorite to win the Hex. Mexico wow did not look good at home, they need to get their shit together or they may end up like the USA when they travel to Honduras. Jamaica, wow team of the round? if them dudes figure out how to put the ball in the net they will make the World cup. After round 1; the HEX is looking very interesting.
Is playing at Mexico that hard? They have been shut out in two of their last four home games going back to their loss to the USA in August, and the only time since World Cup 2010 they scored more than 2 goals at home was against Guyana last year.
I'm really happy by the 2-2 draw in panama the first 20 minutes panama was scary but Costa Rica had control of the game in the second. USA look weird like they had some issues with the Heat but Honduras was the better team. But Jamaica is the winner a draw in the Azteca is not easy.
