He mentioned alot about the stadium and PSL situation, but he also said briefly that he and his staff have visited multiple soccer stadiums for design ideas. I'll post a link to the audio when it's on the 790 website.
It sounds like it is going to be part of the package deal. Let's hope so. Also, let's hope that he pays a lot of attention to what has succeeded (Seattle, Vancouver, Portland, etc...) and what has failed (Revolution) when it comes to using a multipurpose stadium. I definitely think the upper deck shield covers will be a must and will not be all that bad, honestly.
I can't wait to finally see some designs and site selection for this stadium. 2013 will be an exciting year for Atlanta sports.
I have read in articles recently that they are not wanting to copy any other stadium. They said that they don't want anyone to be able to say ...New Atlanta Stadium reminds me of _____... I hope this is the case so it can really be a good place for soccer/MLS. Another thought is that it will have a retractable roof...great way to create a tough wild place to play!
Has Blank done anymore soccer related interviews lately? Someone mentioned a Blank radio interview to me recently, in which he discusses his ATL MLS hopes, etc. But I wasn't sure if it was this one or if there was a new one.
Okay, I am told this latest radio interview was just a couple days ago, and it was live from New Orleans, part of a pre-Super Bowl show. Blank apparently talks about the stadium hosting an MLS team, World Cup Qualifiers on a regular basis, etc. If anyone can find the transcript or an audio link, please post it. Thanks.
