[quote="Great to hear about the Westfield complex, too. Indoor training fields will do a lot for the team's preseason work.[/quote] Here is the site plan for the Westfield complex (Grand Park Sports Campus). The arrow indicates what is labeled as the "Championship Field". (I hope this isn't too far off topic.)
I didn't make up this headline...here's an article in Fort Wayne about Peter Wilt hosting a fan forum. Peter is working hard for this team & I like how he does things. It's similar to the effort PMI put into the Scorpions last year. Indy soccer team has hopes to go pro - fwdailynews.com Fort Wayne Sport Club will host a fan forum at 7:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, to discuss a newly-formed Indianapolis pro soccer team, and their…
I saw that article too. I avoided it because of the title. Minor league/lower division sports are pro. It's bad enough that common folk make that mistake, but it really pisses me off when journalists don't understand that. Saying a minor league team - especially at the highest level below the major league (NASL, AAA baseball, AHL, NBADL) isn't pro devalues it in the eyes of the potential fanbase. It's a disservice to the team, the owners, the fans, and especially the players.
Hey guys how about you answer the man's question so you can get your board up an running. https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/indianapolis-nasl-subforum.1981088/page-2#post-27153138
Very curious about the stadium situation. The rendering on the Indy Pro Soccer site shows some extensive modifications to Carroll Stadium (stands behind the goals, corporate hospitality area on the north side of the facility) that would require renovation and htat would interfere with the facility's use for track and field (IUPUI now has a Division 1 track program for both men and women). IUPUI certainly isn't going to fund major changes to the stadium for a short-term tenant. Still, it's a good location, and as someone who was at the 1997 U.S. Open Cup final, I'm looking forward to seeing pro soccer there once again.
2012 NASL Average Attendance by Team 1) San Antonio 9,176 2) Atlanta 4,505 3) Carolina 3,883 4) Fort Lauderdale 3,615 5) Tampa Bay 3,116 6) Minnesota 2,796 7) Puerto Rico 1,864 8) Edmonton 1,525
Here's the link to the 93.1 interview with Peter and Ozdemir... http://indyprosoccer.com/spotlight-indianapolis-interviews/
I think you realize this, but Indy has 1,700 season ticket deposits. Not the same thing has tickets sold. Still, I have a good feeling about Indy. We might have the makings of Scorpions 2.0 here. Would be nice to see all of their hard work and methodical planning pay off with a nice fan base and a solid stadium plan come 2014.
1,700 season ticket deposits at $25 a pop over a year before the first game for a D2 team. Or put another way, they've already pulled almost $50,000 just for holding a press conference, throwing up a website and posting on twitter.
The organization already has a staff that needs to get paid, so 50K won't go far. Is that a non refundable deposit? A lot of money out of pocket to get this ball rolling. Although I won't argue it's a very good start.
Will have a staff. They are just starting interviews for positions this month. As far as i know the only one who has been hired is Peter
I was told they had hired some marketing and or sales people. Of course with social networking the way it is today.
Tom Dunmore created the website and posts regularly on it. His articles have been great. Hope he stays in the thick of things here in Indy. I'd assume twitter is done by Peter or Tom as it's been around since Indyprosoccer.com originally took off. Regardless we'll see the staff established between now and March. It's very likely that the team has already hired on some employees at this point.
Honestly, I'm confused as to why people are being so strict about the difference between season tickets sold and season ticket deposits made. Do we have some reason to believe that most or even many of these people won't jump in for the full cost? In many cases the deposit constitutes almost 1/5 of the total purchase price. The team are doing things smart by allowing fans to make a deposit now and then pay just $75 for their seat selection. Spreading out the price of the season tickets will ensure less attrition. Further, there's no possible reason anyone should be scoffing at $50K in revenue within 2 months of the initial announcement. It may not go very far toward paying their whole staff, but that's what the owner is for. Most successful companies don't see black ink for 18 months to two years. $50K is $50K, and I will bet that most existing NASL teams haven't taken in anywhere close to that amount to date in 2013.
wouldn't those more likely be season ticket DEPOSITs and not actually purchased season tickets ... i don't see prices or full STH packages on the website ... only $25 for deposits. that is some shoddy reporting.
