Might watch this one at Irene's Pupusas III in Glenmont, assuming I feel good enough that day about my (rather weak) ability to communicate in Spanish. Don't think I've ever eaten a baleada.
Call me crazy, but with Donovan out of it, and JKs seeming reluctance to play Dempsey wide, I think Bradley may be our best option at RM. The one friendly where he played there (was that Slovenia?) we looked really good. He could switch out with Jones and let Williams play DM. This isn't my preferred MF, but given JKs previous RM decisions, I think Bradley >>> Zusi.
CRAZY! Actually, if this makes the US Team better (moving Bradley to RM), I have no problem with it. However, I would put out at MR before I would Bradley...
Since Bradley was the #8 in that match due to how lopsided the diamond was, that would be reasonable enough.
uhhh I expect it would be something like this: Escober; Peralta, Muma, Chavez, Figueroa; Espinoza, Claros, Boniek, Martinez; Bengtson y Costly with Izaguirre out he can stick Figueroa in CB and just put JC Garcia out on the left, Martinez could be sacrificed for Najar, and Beckeles could come in for Peralta.. but I think the line-up above is the safest bet.
Thanks. Crazy how up in the air our starting 11 is. I get it but crazy going into the hex with such uncertainty. Time for JK to work his magic. The first four Hex games will be challenging to say the least. Should be interesting one way or another.
---------------------------Jozy ---------------------------Demps -----------Jones---------------------------GZ --------------------------Bradley ---Johnson-------Williams or Mo--------------TC --------------------Boca----------Cam --------------------------T-Ho Guzan Parkhurst Goodson or Omar EJ Boyd or Agudelo Sacha Willams or Mo (whichever isn't in the starting 11) aside: one thing that baffled me about the Canada match was our insistence to play it to anyone's head but EJ's. The guy is a pogo stick and pretty d@mn lethal in the air. But, we were playing high balls to Wondo, Omar, and Agudelo, never to EJ. They're all threats for headed goals, but not like EJ is.
Kyle McCarthy @kylejmccarthy Tally Hall flew in from Houston today after #usmnt duty and will start against Colorado tonight. Bruin and Davis remained in Houston.
Does that mean they are possibly going to Florida in a few days? I could see it. Davis for obvious reasons and Bruin because Klinsmann likes to have a young striker come along. With Boyd seemingly just not ready for this level and Bruin supposedly having a very good camp its not hard to see.
I don't think you can glean anything from this regarding Davis and Bruin, as they would naturally be staying in Houston since that's who they play for.
What? Boyd is scoring a goal ever like 140minutes. I don't think he's "seemingly jsut not ready for this level."
Right & Houston is playing Colorado in Colorado. Im not saying they are staying behind for US duty but it certainly could be a reason behind why they are.
I assume that they haven't really been home in about a month. Maybe Houston is giving both a day or two to regroup from about a month of training, and then they will be back in a few days. Honestly, I just don't see how either deserves a spot on the roster. Davis was poor against a bad Canada team, and Bruin seemed to be the last striker on the depth chart from that Canada game. Seems like EJ and Agudelo are both ahead of Bruin, and possibly still Wondo, although he showed that he can't produce for the National Team what he produces in the MLS.
Im completely aware of his success in the Austrian Bundesliga but thats in Austria which is a pretty low level compared to where the rest of the pool plays. What he does there wont have much to do with his US involvement for now. Jurgen will see him as good enough to be a FWD prodigy taking up a USMNT slot or he will find him just not quite ready for the international level. It seems like the latter because of increasingly lowered amount of involvement with the US and well, sure he's done some nice things for us (Mexico backheel) but I many would agree with me when I say his skill level is definitely not developed up to par yet. I have no problem with Boyd being around but if a better FWD prospect grabs Jurgen's attention, dont be surprised if he starts to select that player over Boyd.
Well your initial point is good because while the Canada match was in Houston, camp was in Carson & I seemed to forget that fact. Just the same, Houston plays Vancouver in 2 days in Arizona. Missing 2 preseason friendlies seems unreasonable yet reasonable at the same time. Im not reading into this like its definitely the case but it seems like a possibility or could at least mean they are to be called in case anyone gets injured in Florida. As for your opinion, well as ive said several times, the coaching staff is going take very little information from the Canada match because of simply how awful it was on all accounts. That is obvious but Jurgen also kind of alluded to it himself. They will gather info from the 21 day camp. Both had good camps. Bruin from what ive heard stood out more than a lot of the strikers, has obviously had a much better scoring record in MLS than Agudelo, and just because Agudelo entered the match earlier doesnt mean he is preferred. That could very well be tactics given that Agudelo is more skilled on the ball than Bruin. As for Wondo, Im talking about young strikers with potential only to bring along. Davis started and left the match along with Zusi. Jurgen stated he "did fine" & "well". He was not poor. Then, you have the fact that Josh Gatt wont be there so there is certainly a spot for Davis to step in.
I believe they fly Tuesday but I read that somewhere and don't know if that's right. The starting 11 isn't as up in the air as people think. The back 5 is almost certainly going to be Howard, Chandler, Boca, Cameron, Johnson (if he's not hurt, if he is then more then likely Castillo or maybe Chandler at LB and Parkhurst at RB). The midfield will have Bradley and Jones with either Beckerman or Williams as the DM. The attack will be Dempsey, Gomez (based on recent selection history and his work rate) and Zusi. Zusi being the one guy with the least likely chance of starting out of the front three. There is going to be a couple spots where depending on what JK game plan is will change the roster but only slightly.
Not really the only spots that are question marks are LB and CDM. One being an injury and the other being playing time vs beckerman. Everything going on the past is going to be the same.
