Apparently there is a satellite truck arriving at Arsenal. Sadly that news has gotten my hopes up a bit.
I bet we activated Diame's release clause with a 30 million bid, like that twat on Twitter was saying.
As long as he's positionally disciplined and won't get torched by the likes of Aaron Lennon, I'm happy.
Anyone else troubled by the fact that, with this purchase, that we have yet another player (Santos) who will, if Wenger has his way, rarely/never play for the Arsenal again, but yet who we're on the hook for 40-50k per week for another 18 months? I feel like there's been a ton of bad contracts in the last few years, most of which we're still on the hook for.
Yet, if we don't buy anyone, Wenger will get criticize for being a penny-pincher. Gotta take the risk. Even with all these bad contracts, we're still in a better financial situation than most clubs out there.
Agreed. I just feel like Arsene has a had a rough couple years in signings (we're still not paying 36m for Andy Carroll or anything like that) and that, for a club that watches its pennies so close, we're shelling out some serious johnny for players who never play and who we can't get rid of.
I had this thought too. Seems like more deadwood has been locked in. Glad we made a move to try to get better, but things are still off here.
You'd think with how terrible Santos is, and how fragile Gibbs is that this nacho man would have been signed weeks ago. But hey, that'd be too easy and sensible.
If thats his salary then surely we can find a willing club to take him off our books. He is still a good player but just not right for the Premier League. Summer 2013 will surely see Santos leaving and Nacho, along with Gibbs, fighting for the starting LB spot and spot on the bench. I can see our total back-line for 2013-14 already: Sagna, Jenkinson, Vermaelan, Mertesaker, Laurent, (4th CB), Gibbs, Nacho. That is not bad... not bad at all.
