I was bored so I started looking at young south american forwards that might fit the bill that RSL is looking at.

I will post more tomorrow. If anyone else wants to join in....

    Wilson Morelos
    25 years old 1.71m ( I think)
(doesn't have the experience to be considered a #2)
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilson_Morelo

The goals are shown after 2 minutes. Then it shows his passing and dribbling.

Well, I had originally whittled my Colombian choices down to four players who are currently OOC: Cristian Nazarit (22, Deportivo Cali), Armando Carrillo (27, Atletico Huila), Jean Carlos Blanco (21, Atletico Huila), Victor Guaza (27, Equidad).

I looked at both Renteria and Morelos and a number of other players currently with clubs. Neither of those two were high on my list. Guys like Wilberto Cosme Mosquera, Dayro Moreno, Carmelo Valencia, and Luis Fernando Mosquera seemed like much more likely prospects.

I have to admit, the recent comments by Kreis and the comments by Dell Loy about DP's really have my head swimming. I understand that there is at least 1 Colombian player that the club had recent discussions with (although I have no clue as to which one).

During yesterday's interview, Garth indicated it could be another couple of weeks before the paperwork for the new forward is finalized. Hopefully they get it done in a faster timeline.

8-10 days ago it was "we'll have the announcement in 8-10 days" and 8-10 days before that it was.....

RSL is playing a fun game these days....shit just never ends.

I've heard anything from a couple of days to a couple of weeks. Hopefully Garth is just sandbagging because of all the issues he's had with promising certain dates this offseason.

If you think about it, there's a ton of parties involved when bringing in an international:
    1.The club.
    2. The player.
    3. The player's agent.
    4. The player's previous club.
    5. The player's loaner club (if he's been on loan like Joao Plata was).
    6. FIFA - for ITC paperwork.
    7. U.S. Immigration - for work Visa.

When you consider this list and how slowly the wheels turn at some of these organizations - especially toward the bottom of the list - it's a small miracle these international signings happen at all.

What exactly do you want the FO to do? They don't have a clue how long negotiations are going to take. They'd like it to be 8-10 days but, ultimately, don't really have control.

This seems like the lamest thing to criticize. If you want to get on the FO about something, question who's going to be taking up Johnson's slack in the midfield. Or something.

This isn't directed at you, UP, but this general whining about not seeing every detail about player acquisitions is starting to get really old. It's like some people on here actually believe that Garth isn't really trying to find a forward, and is just screwing with their heads.

I think my post was misunderstood. I was providing a timetable update, not complaining about the timetable. Would I like to see the guy get into camp sooner? Yes. Do I understand that this is not always feasible? Yes. Am I happy with how the offseason has gone so far? Yes. Am I ready for lunch? Yes.

On a side note, Garth's timetable updates are similar to the tactic I used when working at scout camp. On hike day, we would always answer "4 more miles" when scouts would ask us how much further the destination was. Most wouldn't catch on to the tactic, but those who would were usually the scouts that you could have a good conversation with.

At the same time at any point they could actually backtrack if there are any concerns or doubts that come up. Add in with foreign players, you're trying to sell them on a team in another country, with a different language and customs and ask them to leave behind all they know to come play for you. I'm sure sometimes that's a difficult sell.

No, I understood you...everything but the first paragraph of my post wasn't directed at you. It was more directed at everybody who wonders why Garth says "it will be a week" when it ends up being a month. The issue he's facing is that so many of these things are outside his control. You can't tell a player when to make up his mind about coming. You can't predict when an agent will answer his e-mails (especially when he's doing lines of coke off the back of a toilet seat in a club in Cartagena). And you sure as hell can't predict when the U.S. government will put that visa in the mail.

Garth needs to realize this and learn to underpromise and then overdeliver...hopefully he has.

I'm just amazed at how well he has been able to keep the player's name under wraps. So many other teams have rumors flying, but Garth is able to keep most of his stuff under lock and key. You'd think the player's agent would talk to another agent, and then that agent would talk, and then Ives would blow it all over the Twittersphere.

That's exactly what will happen when we get ~24 hours away from the announcement. Happens every time. Who broke the Johnson/Espy/Olave trades? Ives...via an agent. Who broke the Plata signing? An Ecuadorian newspaper...via the same agent. And it goes on and on the same way throughout MLS.

Just curious on how you whittled it down to these players. I know nothing of South American soccer so I used Wiki ( not relaible I know) to look up Colombian Leagues and went through half of the team last night.
Garth said the player is in between a speed player and a target player. He isn't as tall as Sabo but he's not short either. He said he is young so I would assume he's between 20-25 or so. Garth never said he was going to be a #2 guy but IBIK seems to think this guy will be. I have yet to see a young kid with the pedigree to come to RSL and be a #2. To bee fair I only looked for an hour.

I'd like them to shut the hell up, or worst case just say "we're working on it, we don't have a time/date yet." Nothing more, nothing less. Just stop jerking us around with these 8-10 day, 1-2 weeks non-sense, we aren't that stupid. You can't really disappoint when you don't give the people a timeframe, but when you continually fail to provide any real information after your given timefram, then you piss everyone off. I was patient for the first two months through all the Javi contract issues, and the other little nuggets they've dropped. But no more, I'm just tired of being jerked around, either keep your mouth shut about these timeframes or actually deliver.

Some of these possibilities are pushing the definition of "young" and making it "in their prime" IMO.

KIR, what do you know about German Cano and Carlos Renteria? Cano is from Argentina but plays ball in Colombia. They both seem like pretty good goal scorers.
