So, my wife and I went to an exclusive Philadelphia Union team event. The event was catered and only 30 fans were invited. It was held at Fado in Philadelphia. We were really looking forward to meeting all of the players, but just when the event got started, some ASSHOLE stole Barb's wallet out of her purse from in the middle of a crowded room. We ended up missing the entire event. No dinner, no meet the players, nothing! Spent the whole evening on the phone cancelling cards and accounts, talking to police, etc. I just wanted to thank the ASSHOLE that ruined our evening, made off with our cash, and used our debit card at Home Depot tonight to the tune of $407.53. I hope it was worth it to you AND I hope that you get what you deserve....ASSHOLE!!! Sorry, I just needed to vent.

Since he's out of the league and can no longer collect allocation money from the Union, he's resorts to taking it directly from the Union fans. Nowak strikes again!

On a serious note, I hope everything works out.

Hope Home Depot had their cameras working and the cops get it and catch the rat bastard. Sorry it ruined your night.

Wow. That's pretty bold for an invite only event.

Or was the bar still open to the general public?

    That sucks though.

I do not think it was anyone involved with the party. There were some people still at the bar. The bitch of it is, the room was really crowded where we were and whoever did this had to literally squeeze between us and a couple of the players to pull this off. Whoever did it must have left immediately though, because there was a charge at the Home Depot on Oregon Ave. about 25 minutes after we realized what happened. The manager at Fado put us up in his office and let us use the phone, and we were on the phone cancelling the ATM card when we actually watched the transaction go through at the Home Depot. All told we are out the loss at Home Depot (which we may get back), $200 in cash, and roughly $125 that was spent last night between Fado and parking, etc. It was an expensive night for not actually getting to enjoy the party. Not to mention all of the aggravation and worry over cancelling cards and such.

I felt so bad for you guys last night. The person that did it had to be eyeballing you guys. Was it about a 5 - 10 minute window when it could of happened? When you came into the room and sat with us, you were only there for a few minutes before you realized it happened. Someone took advantage of the chaos in the room as everyone started filling in. What a nightmare having to deal with all that bullshit. They have to have the asshole on footage at home depot, those places are pretty wired up. Good to see you last night, just wish we could have hung out more.

That really blows. Since you have the transaction time from home depot make sure you get a police report (sure you have already) and the police will be able to go to home depot and look at the video of that specific time, if they care to.

I had someone swipe my Amex about a year ago, and went on a shopping spree at the Lowes/Ikea/Best Buy/Pier 1 down in South Philly, then again at some Lowes/Home Depots in Delaware, to the tune of over $5k. I actually called one of the Lowes in Christiana, and spoke with their loss prevention folks. Since we could see the time of the transaction, they found the security feed of the couple, and sent that info to the po-po and Amex's loss prevention people.

You can fight the charges (though I hear it is a pain) at Home Depot. The max you are liable for is $50, it still sucks but it is better than being fully liable. I found the below site that may give you some tips about anything else that you may need to do.

When I worked in retail years and years ago we were required by AMEX to verify signatures (supposed to do it on all) but AMEX even had a rule that only the card holder's signature and even if the wife/husband of the holder had a card associated with the account AMEX could stop payment where as Visa and MC wouldn't be so stringent with a cardholder on the account using a different card. I remember ringing someone out at a register, their signature said ask for id so I did, she was confused at first but thanked me when she realized why, she was shocked as she said she used that card several times that day and I was the first to ask. Sadly though it seems in just a few short years cashiers have virtually stopped checking signatures and with more and more self service swiping it is far easier to use a stolen card. I do give props to PNC because they stopped a second charge and called me when I paid for gas and was buying gift cards for xmas and both charges came through within minutes. I didn't understand why the second charge was declined, just used debit and got it through but before I even walked out the door PNC was calling.

It was probably my favorite Union event I had been to. There was a ratio of 1:1 for players and fans. The food was great and having dinner with my wife, Amobi, Marfan & Chandler was really cool. Getting to meet Conor Casey was great. All the players were super friendly and approachable. All the new guys were there for the most part, but I didn't talk to many of them because I didn't know who they were to be quite honest. If they do this again next year and I have 1000+ points, I will not be bidding on any auctions because this experience was way more valuable to me than some autographed stuff.

I believe you had to reach 1000 points on a single seat.

You're busting my balls and you're from Hampton Lakes???? The only thing good to come out of Hampton Lakes is Beetlejuice

Left when I went off to college, proud to say I haven't lived there since. Even got my mom out, even though she still owns a house there.
