How do we normally play these early friendlies? Will it basically be all trialists and reserves, or might we get a glimpse at what a starting line-up might look like?

It'll be mixture of everyone most likely. They sometimes divide these preseason friendlies into 3 periods.

SKC and New England (yeah, I know how gives a shit about these teams), played an preseaon friendly game today. They both played mainly their starter form last year, at least the first 30 minutes.

    http://www.chicago-fire.com/news/2013/01/game-notes-chicago-fire-vs-florida-gulf-coast-university

Johnson (USMNT), Arne (Not in camp yet), Bone (training at AM), Pineda (injured), Gulley(not in camp) and Walls (about to be waived) unavailable for today

Tornaghi apparently had off-season surgery on his pinky, practiced for the first time on Friday. and is questionable. If he doesn't make it, we will have no signed GKs for the friendly today...

    As for unsigned players,
Luke Boden has already left camp, and there is a mystery Trialist #1 (GK), and Trialist #2 (ST) eligible. Get the CIA facial recognition software ready...

And it will be 3 30 minute periods.

So when Johnson, Friedrich and Nyarko come back and get healthly who do they replace in this starting 11? Johnson for Kann, Nyarko for Thompson (Alex moves to LM and Nyarko plays RM) and Friedrich for Pause (Friedrich plays CB and Anibaba moves to RB).

There are some serious challenges being put in so far. Looks a bit like the blackhawks are playing

    first period over 0-0

Lindpere off the post and Rolfe saved on the follow-up the best chance.

Given that they are apparently mostly freshmen/sophmores, FGCU has looked pretty good, though Fire were easily the better side

I think its mainly a fitness thing, FGCU likely has had their kids together and outside training for this a good couple weeks longer than the Fire have been back to together.

#cf97 XI for the second 30: Joyce*; Balchan*, Kinney, McKinzie*, Jumper; Trialist 2*, Videira, Paladini, Atouba**; Oduro, Santos.

Mystery trialist playing on the right I guess? He was listed as a forward in the pre-game notes
